<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for mixing air with bath water *
The apparatus constructed in accordance with the present invention and for mixing air with bath water can be adapted to any water tap. This apparatus consists of a tube which is intended to be adapted to the water inlet tap and of which the single or multiple walls are provided with openings or ducts for the air of the mixture entering under the effect of suction of water.
In particular, without the new bathtub installations, the mixture can be brought by a distribution system arranged in the bottom of the bathtub by means of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a double bottom whose upper plate is pierced with numerous small exit openings.
The drawing represents in figs. 1 to 4, by way of examples, of embodiments of the invention, while FIG. 5 shows the arrangement of the apparatus under the supply tap of a bathtub. Figs.
6 to 8 show embodiments of distribution systems forming part of the bathtub, in different sections. according to fig. 1, the apparatus comprises three tubes nested one inside the other and widening in a cone downwards 3a, 3b, 3c, which are suspended. the upper part has rings of metal wire or equivalent organs 4a, 4b, 4c and which are advantageously kept at the desired distance and made heavier, at the lower part, for example by means of similar metal rings 5a, 5b , 5c. porous materials of all kinds, for example fabrics, porous rubber, etc., can be used for the tubes 3a, 3c. The outer tube 3c need not necessarily be porous and can be made of sheet metal, rubber, glass , porcelain and other man-made materials.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is for example made of glass, porcelain, sheet metal or an equivalent rigid material and comprises only two tubes nested one inside the other 3a, 3b, which have openings. or oblique conduits 6a, 6b directed downwards.
The openings or ducts 6b made in the tube

exterior can optionally be deleted. In the embodiment shown in fig. 3, the inner tube is made of sheet metal, porcelain, hardened or flexible rubber and to the openings or air channels existing in the tube are further connected with nozzle-shaped extensions 8 directed inward. The outer casing 3b which is porous serves to allow air to access the openings or ducts in the wall of the inner tube, even when there is already a sufficient water level in the tub. Student. According to fig.4, the upper part of the tube section has the shape of a distributor screen which tapers downwards in a cone.
In this case, there are four mixing tubes nested one inside the other and one or more walls 3d of which must not be porous or perforated.
The walls of the piece of tube can optionally form a continuous spiral which makes the manufacture inexpensive, the apparatus is fitted to the water tap - / by means of a suspension flange or else of a junction sleeve. rubber or an equivalent material. The action of the various devices then depends on the pressure of the liquid and the distance from the orifice of the valve. it is also possible, as has already been mentioned, to increase the action of the apparatus by ensuring the good distribution of the mixture in the bathtub, as is possible with the distribution systems shown in FIGS. 6 to 8.
The mixture of water and air produced is introduced through a pipe 9 into the double bottom 10, 11 where it is distributed over the entire extent of the bathtub. In the background there are
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
provided with outlet openings in front of which are

pla (3èoo (leo strainers 12.
These strainers advantageously have the hemispherical shape shown on the figs. 6 and 7 so that, due to the increase in their surface area, the sum of the openings formed therein becomes equal, from the surface point of view, to the outlet openings located above the strainers and formed in the bottom 11. however, it is also possible to increase the surface area of the strainers as shown in fig 8 to 13, by connecting to the outlet openings a funnel extending downwards, to the lower end of which the strainer is then fitted. The constantly arriving mixture is evaluated through an opening, not shown, advantageously disposed in the wall.
In the case of enamelled cast-iron bathtubs or similar bathtubs, a network of pipes is arranged below the shell of the bathtub which encloses the outlet openings arranged in the same or similar manner. The supply pipe 9 can naturally be located both against the long side and on the small side of the bathtub.
