<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING MOIRE TISSUES.
The present invention relates to a process for obtaining moiré fabrics.
The manufacturing process that it covers consists in passing a fabric composed of silk, cotton or silk <and cotton (intended for moiré), in a cylinder at high pressure and to which a heating of 120 degrees is given.
After the fabric has passed under this cylinder, it suffices to fold it in half to see the moiré appear on the inner part of the fabric fold.
As for the fabrics likely to reach this moiré, they can be worked on any weaving looms; this moiré can be obtained on thick or thin fabrics, the flowers simply changing according to the size, as well as on those of any textile fibers of silk, semi-silk and cotton.
If it is, for example, a cotton fabric to which one wants to make take the moiré, in the assumption of a n 36 with three threads twisted in a single thread Jumel or Egyptian to reason
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of 25 all, n 16/1 thread - n 12 / l cotton thread, 16 threads-in the center, separate each thread, pin of the fabric reps long.
Moiré can also be obtained by working the fabric as for the wide reps; the latter, -the flowers appear otherwise.
For the weft, fine thread n 40 / l - 30 threads per centimeter cotton, 130/40 silk.
After weaving, the pieces will go to the dyeing shop. You can use any color.
Then came the mercerization and shining of dyed fabrics. Then the fabric is passed through two bands, one above the other, over a cylinder (which must not be of special construction) heated to 120 degrees, and strong pressure is applied.
Once done, remove the strips and open, which will show that the flowers are visible inside on the strips.
You can use less glue to finish the fabric to obtain large flowers.
