PATENTSCHRIFTPATENT LETTERING
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 7. April 189a ab.Patented in the German Empire on April 7, 189a.
So far, the whole or half silk piece goods, which are made from raw silks (untwisted Grege or twisted silks) in conjunction with the same materials raw or deboned or with other staple fibers, such as Schappe (floret), cotton, wool, Any fibers of any kind are ever produced, always before the coloring of a decoction subjected, whereby the bast of the silks contained in the goods dissolved and removed became. As is well known, the main amount of silk consists of the actual silk fiber, the fibroin, and the so-called. Silk glue or silk bast, sericin, of which latter material the silk 20 to 30 pct. contain. This silk glue has hitherto been entirely made up of the fibroin removed in hot to boiling soap baths when the piece goods are decocted. In the the silks contained in the pieces have so far lost an average of 25 pCt in weight, which causes a simultaneous, relative diminution in the circumference of the thread (thickness).
In the manufacture of silk, the materials are pre-dyed, i.e. in the strand before weaving, one has long been concerned with the souping of the silk (the opening, Softening the thread) as an extremely valuable treatment. The bast will not removed from the silk by this process, the loss of weight and volume of the In contrast to the dyeing of deboned silks, silk in the dyeing process is significantly less; the same material can be used to produce a denser fabric. The fact, that the souped (softened) silk feels supple, and no less so does it a matt sheen is valued for certain fabrics.
The opening of the thread (souplirening) is done in the same way when dyeing pieces as with strand dyeing by using boiling, weakly acidic baths, after for light colors the yellow bast of the silk has been bleached beforehand. In this treatment A very small part of the silk glue loosens, especially that which is used in the Processing in the spinning mill has set itself mechanically and the individual spun Cocoon threads glued together to form a thread. This glue loosens, the individual cocoon threads emerge again separately; the otherwise stiff, hard silk thread becomes supple and takes hereby appears to be considerably larger in scope than in its raw nature. The loss silk glue is not more than 5 pCt. against 25 pCt. in the decoction of the Silk. The appearance of the thread is important to the appearance of the deboned silk thread become more similar.
In addition, the application of aggravations on silk that has not been deboned is important more beneficial. The souping of the silks in piece goods has not yet been carried out.
Das-In the skein dyeing the souplirte silks are dyed after a treatment, the so-called Chevillires, subject. The threads are made by wringing the strands in place rubbed each other, making the silk glue even more pliable. That-
The same is done with the above treatment of the silks in the piece goods by rubbing the ready-dyed Waare, a handling known in silk manufacture, achieved.
