Fig.1 est une coupe verticale longitudinale;

"Circulation device for flue gas from apartment fireplaces- @% li sent. @
The present invention relates to an apparatus applicable to all apartment fireplaces and intended to force, at will, the combustion gases to travel a certain path before their escape to the chimney, with the dual aim of recovering more heat. and to maintain a slow combustion, the apparatus however allowing the direct draft for the launching of the fire. This device can be adopted as is to all types of fireplaces currently in use; it is placed behind the hearth and hidden by the usual trim.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention:
Fig.1 is a longitudinal vertical section;
Fig.2 is a vertical section along II-II fig.l.
Fig.3 is a vertical section along III-III fig.l. fig.4. is a horizontal section along IV-IV fig.l.

1 designates the pot of the fireplace, of any type.
On its rear face, this pot communicates directly, by a light 2, with an upper horizontal chamber 3 which is extended by two lateral hollow vertical columns 4, which are ocrented in a lower chamber 5¯ parallel to 3. This chamber 5 is extended by a central vertical duct 6 opening into another duct 7 which opens into the chimney.
On the other hand, the pot (or better the hearth) comprises a second light 6 opening into the duct 7. A register 9, pivoting around the axis 10 which extends outside the device to allow it to be released. operation, can close either the light 8 or the central duct.
To start the fire, we operate the register 9 so as to close the duct 6) the draft is done directly from 1 towards the fireplace by the light !!. and the duct 7 (arrows in punctuated form) the combustion gases cannot escape through the duct 6.
When you want to moderate the fire, maintaining slow combustion with heat recovery, the light 8 is closed; the gases then follow the path indicated by the arrows in solid lines, that is to say: lumen 2, chamber 3, ducts 4, chamber 5, ducts and 7. Obviously, positions can also be used. valve intermediates 9.
The appliance is made of sheet metal or cast iron and occupies the entire width of the hearth; to improve heat recovery, the conduits 4¯ can be arranged near the front of the fireplace, these conduits communicating with the chambers 3 @ 5 by fittings arranged in the direction of the depth of the fireplace.
