"PROCEDE DE MONTAGE DES ROULEMENTS A BILLES SANS ENCOCHE D'INTRODUCTION PAR DEFORMATION ELASTIQUE " @
La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de montage des roulements à billes à bagues de roulement dont les gorges ne présentent pas d'encoche d'introduction, par déformation élastique,en exerçant sur chacune des bagues des efforts suivant un diamètre et qui sont perpendiculaires entre eux;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La fig. 1 montre, vu de face, un roulement assemblé provisoirement;
La fig. 2 montre le même roulement, lorsque la cale est forcée dans l'alésage de la bage intérieure;
La fig. 3 est une vue latérale du roulement repré- senté à la fig. 2;
La fig. 4 montre une cale en perspective;
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"PROCESS FOR MOUNTING BALL BEARINGS WITHOUT INTRODUCTION NOTCH BY ELASTIC DEFORMATION" @
The present invention relates to a method of mounting ball bearings with rolling rings whose grooves do not have an introduction notch, by elastic deformation, by exerting forces on each of the rings along a diameter and which are perpendicular. between them;
process in which the deformation or ovalization of the inner ring is obtained by acting by extension with the aid of a calibrated shim in relation to the bore, while the outer ring is subjected, by means of dynamic efferts acting by compression , to instantaneous deformations, or of very short duration, much greater than those which could be subjected to it using a constant static force applied for a more or less long time
It is known that the maximum deformation which can be subjected to a hardened steel ring without breaking it depends on the time during which this ring is subjected to the load.
The dynamic effect of a force applied instantly, by a swing of a screw press for example, makes it possible to exceed the elastic limit of the metal of the ring
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
and even to go beyond the breaking load.
According to the present process, this property is used to obtain a greater deformation, in order to facilitate the introduction of the balls.
The invention will be more clearly understood by referring to the accompanying drawing by way of example, in which:
Fig. 1 shows, seen from the front, a provisionally assembled bearing;
Fig. 2 shows the same bearing, when the wedge is forced into the bore of the inner bore;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the bearing shown in FIG. 2;
Fig. 4 shows a wedge in perspective;
Figs. 5 and 6 show, schematically, in elevation with cutaway, and in cross section, a machine for carrying out the process.
Fig. 7 represents a tool facilitating assembly.
The two inner 1 and outer 2 rings of the bearing are first of all provisionally assembled by freely inserting the largest possible number of balls 3, by the known eccentric process, and without having recourse to elastic deformation. This assembly makes it possible to keep the connection of the two rings in the following handling operations and to facilitate these handling operations. The balls being suitably distributed, the bearing is presented as shown in fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing.
The extension wedge 4 is then introduced using a press in the bore 5 of the inner ring 1.
The width of this wedge, represented by the major axis A (see fig. 4), is chosen in relation to the different series of bearings to be fitted, so that the standards, determined by experience, allow the suitable ovality of the inner ring as shown in fig.2, figure in which the dotted line shows the circular outline of the ring in the free state.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The bearing is then brought to the machine chosen for the ovalization of the outer ring 2. The major axis A of the shim 4, which will merge this time of assembly, with? the major axis of the ovalized ring 1 is located in the direction of the application of the force intended to ovalize the outer ring 2.
The two rings are eccentric by bringing the balls down; we then introduce an additional ball 6 between the two grooves'! and 8 of rings 1 and 2.
One then acts by small instantaneous forces on the outer ring 2, by means of the nose 9 of the screw of a balancing press for example ,, by bearing on the plate 10 of this press.
The bearing surfaces, on the outer ring, of the nose 9 and of the plate 10, may be flat as indicated in solid lines in FIG. 5, or else concave, that is to say enveloping the bearing, as indicated by @ dotted in 14 and 15.
In the latter case, the curvature of these bearing surfaces corresponds substantially to the smallest curvature of the outer ring when it is at its maximum ovality.
By their own weight, the balls descend with each stroke of the balance and are placed in the bottom of the grooves. This positioning can be facilitated by], simultaneously making a fork lever 11 act as shown in FIG. 7.
This lever is introduced into the bore 5 of the inner ring 1 by overlapping the extension wedge 4, so that the branches of the fork are supported under a stop 12 of the plate 10 and this lever is acted on according to the arrow F so as to center the inner ring 1 with respect to the outer ring 2.
When all the balls are at the bottom of the groove, it suffices to remove the wedge 4 using a press,
Of course, the action of perpendicular forces can
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
be combined with temperature modifications of the rings and balls, so as to reduce the importance of these forces.
The efforts can have any values greater than those necessary; the deformations then being limited, for example, by means of adjustment stops 13 carried by the plate 10 of the press (see figs 5), or by any other means.
The two perpendicular forces being calibrated in advance for each bearing number, this process is advantageously suited to the assembly of bearings in large series, which is carried out in the following order:
1 - Ovalization of the inner rings using shims acting by extension.
2 - Actual assembly by balancing on the outer ringsâ.
3 - Removal of the extension shims from the inner rings.
Each of these phases can be performed by different teams of workers.
The shims used to ovalize the inner rings can have any suitable profile: cylindrical, conical,
EMI4.1
or arlindro-conical, with their greater width being a few tenths of a millimeter greater than the bore of the ring to be deformed.
