<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Control of the spindle drums in the self-acting spinning looms * 4
The object of this invention is an intermediate control making it possible to rotate in both directions the drums which control the rotation of the spindles in the looms for spinning textile materials, known as selfacting winders.
We know that in the spinning looms of textile materials called selfatings-reveieu the rotation of the spindles is ensured by cotton cords winding, on the one hand on tin drums and, on the other hand, on the nuts. some pins.
These drums extend over the entire length of the machine and are integral with a shaft receiving its movement from the motor shaft of the loom.
With selfctings- envideurs, the most generally used, 'when we want to change the direction of rotation of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
pins, it is necessary to cross or uncross the strings, which control it.
This work requiring a complete stop of the selfacting for a rather considerable time, and which is sometimes repeated several times a day, causes a very noticeable loss of production, as well as a greater wear of the strings /
The present invention aims to avoid this drawback and to obtain very quickly, and in an absolutely positive way, the rotation in one or the other direction,
'' drums which control the spindles, and consequently, the spindles themselves without touching the strings which actuate them
To this end, the invention consists in interposing, between the control shaft of the drums, spindles and these drums, an intermediate drive by chains and pinions capable of being put at will out of action and in action so that the spindle control drums can rotate in the direction Bern, than the control shaft when assembled directly with this shaft, which eliminates the intermediate control or can rotate in the opposite direction, relative to this shaft, when the intermediate control is inserted. 4
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention,
'
Figure 1 is a plan view, partly in section showing, in the part on the left, the direct control of the spindle drums and, in the part on the right, the control of the spindle drums by the intermediate chain transmission. and pinions **
Figure 2 is an elevational view of endowed.
In these figures: '
1 is a drum, which, by means of cords, 3 controls the rotation of the spindles 3 A plate 4 integral with the drum 1, is fixed on the end of a pinion 5
On the shaft 6, rotating in a support 7, is fixed a ball bearing 8. which is located inside the pinion 5
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and on which the latter can turn:
is a ratchet wedged on the shaft 6 IT carries two studs 10 and 11 which, by engaging in notches made in the pinion 5, make the latter integral with the ratchet 9
Two supports 12 and 3 fixed at suitable places, carry ball bearings 14 and 15 in which an axis 16 rotates On this one is wedged a ratchet 17, carrying studs 18 and 19
A pinion .20, placed on the axis 16, 'can be made integral with the ratchet 17.' To do this, it suffices to bring it closer to it and to engage the studs 18 and 19, in the corresponding holes, made in the pinion 20.
A screw 21 makes it possible to fix the pinion 20 in the desired location on the axis 16 The rotation of the ratchet 17 is controlled by a chain 22,
coming from the ratchet 9
The device works as follows * 4
The shaft 6, - being as usual, controlled by a cotton cord coming from the flywheels integral with the motor shaft of the machine, always drives the ratchet 9 with it
To turn the drums 1 in the same direction as the shaft 6, screw the two studs 10 and 11 in the ratchet 9, so as to make them penetrate into the notches in the pinion 5, and we will move back the pinion 20 on the axis 16, 'so that it is no longer secured to the ratchet 17,' and so that it does not mesh with the pinion 5
We can leave the chain 22, which continues to rotate the ratchet 17, and therefore the shaft 16, or if preferred,
it can be removed, this axis 16 having no obligation to turn at this time
The organs will therefore be arranged as indicated in the drawing in the part to the left of FIG. 1, and it is easy to realize that the pinion 5, being driven by the ratchet 9, and consequently by the shaft 6, will drive the drums. 1 and pins 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
To obtain the reverse rotation of the drums 1, relative to the shaft 6, the following procedure will be carried out:
We will remove the studs 10 and 11, and we will move back the pinion 20 on the axis 16, so as to engage the ends 18 and 19 in the corresponding holes of the pinion 20 as indicated in the part to the right of figure 1 for controlling the pins located on the other side of the faceplate
Pinion 20 when it occupies this position engages with pinion 5
If previously, chain 22 has been removed, it will be brought into contact with ratchets 9 and 17 In this way, pinion 5 will be able to rotate freely on the ball bearing.
8 from tree 6
The shaft 6 by means of the ratchet 9, which is attached to it will then entail,
by the chai.ne 22 the ratchet 17 in the same direction; the ratchet will drive the pinion 20 which will force the pinion 5, and consequently the drums 1 and the pins 3 to turn in the opposite direction. *
The device described above is applied to the left and to the right of the headrest 23 of the winder so as to ensure, at will, the movement in one direction or the other, of the control drums of the spindles located on each side of the tê pull. '
The invention is obviously not limited to the details of the embodiment of the example described.
This is how the arrangement could be the reverse of that shown, the shaft 6 controlling the intermediate shaft by pinions and the latter actuating the drums of the spindles by rocks and chain * '
Following another modification,
use could be made of a single intermediate shaft receiving its movement by pinions or by chain from the main shaft and returning the movement by means of chains or pinions to ratchets or pinions integral with the control drums of the spindles in such a way
