 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    (FIG 10)
 EMI2.1

 EMI1.1

Description --------------- Assembly system for manufacturing modular railings with horizontal and creeping rails made of different metals in ferrous and non-ferrous steel tubes, steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, pre-polished stainless steel, brass, copper, bronze, aluminum, iron, etc.
 EMI1.2
---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- The present invention relates to an assembly system for railings, which can be assembled without welding, from bars or tubes. Different metals, ferrous and non-ferrous. can thus be assembled without welding and without visible fastenings between them.

The different materials such as steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, pre-polished stainless steel, brass, copper, bronze aluminum, iron etc ... do not easily join together by welding together.

The method consists in being able to assemble tubes of different qualities and metals in a railing intended to be fixed to the ground, on a balcony slab, on the side of a balcony slab or on a low wall.

(FIG I, 2,3, 4, & 5) Vertical support uprights (3) are located at more or less important intervals. The principle is to be able to assemble horizontal round bars or tubes (2), without any welding or visible fixings, so that the vertical uprights (3) do not move apart. the horizontal round bars or tubes (2) do not rotate or slide and provide rigidity to the modular assembly.

On the top of each vertical support upright (3) fits a support (7) for receiving the horizontal handrail (1) in tube. This support (7) is crossed by a screw (14) connecting the threaded sleeve (l 1) and the locking nut (12) thereof to the threaded rod (8) passed through the bars or horizontal tubes . (2) The connection of the handrail (1) with the support (7) is ensured by riveting (16) in the non-visible part. (FIG 7) The tubes serving as vertical support uprights (3) of round, square, rectancular, oval or other sections are pre-drilled in the workshop, with several holes (24) for the passage of horizontal round bars or tubes. (2) The holes (24) are machined according to the number of bars or tubes provided and their diameters.

(FIG 6) The bars or round tubes (2) coming horizontally are pre-drilled with a hole (23) before mounting.

The hole (23) is made at the location of the bar or the tube which will be inside and in the center of the vertical support upright (3) in tube and this is repeated according to the number of uprights. The horizontal round bars or tubes (2) are thus superimposed through the support uprights (3) in vertical tubes without welds or apparent fastenings between them. (FIG 6) The principle to ensure mounting, is to thread the horizontal bars or tubes (2) vertically by means of a threaded rod (8). The horizontal round bars or tubes (2), each having a pre-drilled hole are superimposed horizontally in the through holes of the vertical support uprights (3).

During assembly, a pre-drilled washer (9) is placed in the tube, above and below the horizontal round bars or tubes (2), to ensure its maintenance.

The assembly of horizontal round bars or tubes (2), of the threaded rod (8) and of the washers (9), prevents after tightening at each end using a self-locking nut (10). the circular movement, the up and down movement and also prevents the spacing of the support uprights (3) of the balustrade.

A plastic protection ring can be provided at the connection point of the horizontal bar or tube and the vertical support upright, to protect the ferrous and non-ferrous bars or tubes from electrolysis according to the different combinations of metals. (eg aluminum / steel) The connection of horizontal round bars or tubes (2) with the support uprights (3) in round tube. square. rectangular, oval or other is fixed inside the vertical support upright (3) in tube; this constitutes the modular character of the railing, without welding or visible fixing, for the assembly of different ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

The aesthetics are obtained by centering all the elements connected together. The parts can be connected through the support uprights through the opening at each end of the tube, thus constituting easy access for assembly.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

The assembly of the vertical support uprights (3) with the horizontal bars or tubes (2) has no sharp edges.

The assembly by linear connection is obtained by the horizontal cut half half (20) of two bars or horizontal round tubes juxtaposed, which will fit inside a vertical support upright and will be threaded because also pre-drilled, by the same principle of the threaded rod (8) described above.

The half-half cutouts (20) are made on the number of bars or horizontal tubes (2) that the railing comprises. For linear assembly. the handrails (1) are juxtaposed in the center of a support upright (3) and riveted below on the support (7). Linear assembly can therefore be carried out endlessly.

    (FIG 10)
 EMI2.1
The tubes are closed, for finalization and aesthetics, at their ends by a PVC or other plug (21).

A base or foot is provided at one end of each vertical support upright to allow fixing
 EMI2.2
on a slab or laterally, or on a low wall. (FIG 8 & 12) For fixing to the floor on a slab and on a low wall: the base is made up of a round plate (17) or other, out-of------... -... ........... sheet metal, drilled in the center of a hole through which passes a piece of tube (15) corresponding to the internal diameter of the support post. The piece of tube (15) will be welded under the plate (17) and perforated with two holes (16) for fixing by riveting or the like with the vertical support upright.

The foot is fixed to the ground by several holes (18) allowing the passage of universal or other dowels. A rosette (6) perforated in the center, at the diameter of the support upright (3) covers the plate (17) and thus hides the fixings. The foot is fixed to the vertical support upright by riveting. (FIG H & 12) For lateral fixing. the base is composed of a square plate (4) or other, out of sheet metal, ----------------------- pierced with two holes in the center through which pass two small pieces of tubes (5) which at their ends are pre-drilled with a hole. The pieces of tube (5) will be welded under the plate (4) and aligned.

The two tubes (5) will be passed through the support upright (3) (holes provided in this case) and threaded by the same threaded rod (8) which will have already taken up the upper horizontal bars or tubes (2).

The foot is fixed by perforating the plate with two or four holes (19) for the passage of universal or other dowels. (FIG 8 & 9) The invention will be better understood from the description and the diagrams which follow, by way of nonlimiting examples, allowing the combination of metals which may or may not be assembled together by welding.
