<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Met het inzicht de kenmerken van de uitvinding beter aan te tonen is hierna een voorkeurdragende uitvoeringsvorm van een inrichting die de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding toepast, beschreven met verwijzing naar de bijgaande tekeningen waarin : figuur 1 schematisch een langsgerichte verticale doorsnede weergeeft van een inrichting volgens de uitvinding ;
EMI2.1
figuur 2 een zieht weergeeft volgens pijl F2 in figuur 1.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Method for removing impurities from vegetables, fruit and the like and device that applies this method.
The invention relates to a method for removing impurities from vegetables, fruit and the like.
This method according to the invention is mainly used in the cleaning of vegetables, fruit and the like, more in particular for the removal of waste materials, more particularly objects which do not belong to the end product, such as leaves, stems and the like, generally for separating light parts from heavier and more particularly before separating by means of a liquid parts which float or sink in such liquid.
The hitherto known methods for removing impurities from vegetables, fruits and the like only apply to certain types of vegetables, fruits and the like.
These known methods often require a number of operations, whereby the removal of the above-mentioned impurities is not very efficient.
The object of the invention is a method for removing impurities from an amount of products, characterized in that the separation of the parts of different weight is obtained by applying the products to be cleaned in a liquid bath, whereby a natural separation is obtained because the lighter
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
parts and sink the heavier parts and, on the one hand, and, on the other, separate removal of the separated parts.
With this method, impurities in vegetables and the like can be effectively removed, these vegetables or the like being either heavier than the impurities, such as for instance removing leaves, stems, etc. in carrots, potatoes and the like, or being lighter than the impurities such as, for example, in removing stones, snails, mice, worms and the like from spinach.
The present invention also has an apparatus as an object which applies the aforementioned method and which at least consists of a container filled with liquid; a feeding device which allows the products to be cleaned to be placed in the container; in one side of the receptacle an outlet opening above a discharge device and at the bottom of the receptacle a discharge pipe opening above a second discharge device.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, a preferred embodiment of a device applying the method according to the invention is described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 schematically shows a longitudinal vertical section of a device according to the invention;
EMI2.1
figure 2 represents a view according to arrow F2 in figure 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The method according to the invention is intended to separate and remove the impurities from an amount of products.
For this purpose, the quantity of products is placed in a container filled with liquid, for instance water, in which a separation is automatically obtained of light parts that float and heavier parts that sink.
Such a method will cause the supernatants to be moved to a recess in the wall of the aforementioned receptacle for removal there, while the sunken heavier parts are removed from this receptacle by an appropriate thrust.
An apparatus applying the above-described method according to the invention consists at least of a frame 1 on which a conical container 2 is mounted, in which the latter supplies a supply device 3 for products to be purified, and wherein this supply device 3 can be formed by a conveyor belt, gutter, vibrating plate or the like.
In the conical container 2, a stirrer 4 is provided, the bottom part 5 of which is conical, while the top part 6 is of cam-shaped design.
The stirrer 4 is mounted on a shaft 7 which is suitably mounted in a housing 8 which is held by radially oriented supports 9. The shaft 7 can be driven by a motor 10.
In the side wall of the container 2, an outlet 11 is provided at the top, which opens onto a discharge device 12 which can
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
are formed by a vibrating table, a collection tray, gutter, conveyor belt or the like.
At the location of the outlet 11, a vertically arranged plate 13 is provided in the container 2, which is disposed at an angle to the direction of rotation of the stirrer 4.
Under the aforementioned discharge device 12, a funnel 14 is arranged, which at the bottom communicates with a liquid receptacle 16 by means of a pipe 15.
The conical receptacle 2 is connected at the bottom to an upwardly directed tube 17, which is preferably parallel to the side wall of the receptacle 2, this tube 17 at the top having a horizontal section 18 arranged at the normal height of the liquid level in the receptacle 2 and wherein in this horizontal part 18 a valve 19 is provided, for instance in the form of a plate, which can be adjusted at a certain slope.
The horizontal portion 18 of the tube 17 opens onto a discharge device 20 which can be formed by a vibrating plate, gutter, conveyor belt or the like, wherein the aforementioned receptacle 16 is placed under this discharge device 20.
At the bottom, a conduit 21 is connected to this receptacle 16, in which a pump 22 is placed, the discharge side of the latter being provided with a conduit 23 which opens into receptacle 2, more particularly at the location of the aforementioned riser 17.
The operation of the above-described device is very simple and as follows.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Via the supply device 3, an amount of products to be cleaned is introduced into the container 2 filled with liquid.
Light parts will hereby float in the liquid, while heavier parts will sink to the bottom of the container 2.
When, after the aforementioned products have been placed in the container 2, the stirrer 4 is driven by the motor 10, turbulence will be caused in the liquid such that the floating light floating parts are forced through the plate 13 to pass the outlet. 11 to leave the container 2 and thus end up on the discharge device 12.
Since the liquid level in the receptacle 2 is somewhat higher than the bottom of the outlet 11, a small amount of liquid will also end up on the discharge device 12, together with the floating parts discharged.
This liquid is collected in the funnel 14 and flows automatically via the tube 15 to the receptacle 16.
In another embodiment, a pump can be provided in the conduit 15, while in yet another embodiment the conduit 15 can discharge into the receptacle 2 with a pump in this conduit as well.
The heavier parts that have sunk to the bottom of the container 2 will, under the influence of the thrust of the water flow obtained by the pump 22, be introduced into the tube 17 to end up via the horizontal part 18 of this tube. the discharge device 20.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
By adjusting the pump 22, the thrust in the conduit 23 and in the tube 17, respectively, can be controlled depending on the weight and / or size of the products contained on the bottom of the container 2.
It is clear that the pump 22 continuously pumps an amount of liquid out of the receptacle 16, this amount of liquid ending up on the discharge device 20 via the tube 17-18 and thus flowing back to the receptacle 16.
The valve 19, which is located in the horizontal portion 18 of the tube 17, can be adjusted such that the water level in the container 2 can increase or decrease, and thus less or more water leaves the outlet 11.
The products to be treated according to the invention will generally consist of vegetables such as carrots, peas and the like which form, as it were, the end product to be delivered to the discharge device 20 and of which the lighter impurities such as leaves, foliage, hardwood, stems and such are separated and delivered to the discharge device 12.
If products are to be cleaned whose end product is lighter than the waste products, such as for example spinach, the lighter products, in this case the spinach, will be delivered to the discharge device 12, while the waste products such as earth, sand, stones and the like will be delivered to the discharge device 20.
The present invention is in no way limited to those described above and shown in the accompanying drawings
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
embodiment, but the method according to the invention and the device applying this method can be used in all kinds of variants, shapes and dimensions, respectively realized without departing from the scope of the invention.
