<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Mobile podium or platform.
The invention relates to a mobile podium or platform comprising a mobile chassis, at least two pairs of masts mounted on this chassis and a roof structure carried by these masts.
Podiums or grandstands of this kind are often used when frequent trips are required. They allow faster assembly and disassembly than podiums or stands made up entirely of detached elements to be assembled on site. Indeed, it suffices to deploy the podium or the mobile platform on site which is transported in the folded position to the desired location to quickly obtain a podium or platform ready for use.
However, during transport, the height of the masts must be limited. In order to obtain in a deployed position a sufficient height of these masts and therefore of the roof structure supported by them, these masts are completely foldable or foldable in known podiums or stands.
The construction is therefore relatively complicated and erecting the masts can be laborious and difficult.
The object of the invention is a podium or a mobile stand of a relatively simple construction, making it possible to obtain the desired height of the masts in a very simple and relatively rapid manner during on-site assembly.
For this purpose, the masts are telescopic and each comprise a fixed lower part mounted on the chassis and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a movable upper part carrying the roof structure, a device being provided for simultaneously controlling the masts, this device comprising a drive shaft mounted on the chassis and extending from one pair of masts to the other, means for drive this shaft and a transmission between this shaft and each mast, this transmission consisting of a flexible link wound on the one hand on a drum fixed on the shaft and penetrating on the other hand, passing around a pulley mounted on the 'upper end of the fixed part of the mast, inside this fixed part to cooperate with the lower end of the mobile upper part of the mast so as to be able to exit this mobile part.
Telescopic masts are of a simple construction and their use is made possible by the above-mentioned device making it possible to control all the masts simultaneously by a single command.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, the flexible link cooperates with the lower end of the movable part of the mast by making a U-turn around at least one pulley carried by this lower end, the end of this link flexible located outside the fixed part of the mast being fixed relative to this fixed part.
This allows to multiply the force necessary for lifting the mobile parts of the masts.
Preferably, the flexible links connected to the masts of the same pair are wound on the same drum.
This promotes synchronization of the movement of the moving parts of the two masts of a pair.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In this embodiment, it is possible to join the two flexible links into a single uninterrupted flexible element passing through the interior of the drum. this avoids the separate attachment to the drum of the two flexible links controlling a pair of masts.
For clarity, an example of implementation of the invention is described below by way of illustration and not restrictively, reference being made to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic front view of a podium mobile according to the invention, in the folded position; Figure 2 is a schematic front view similar to that of Figure 1, but with the podium in the unfolded position; Figure 3 shows a section along line III-III of Figure 2; Figure 4 shows the part of the podium indicated by F4 in Figure 3.
The podium according to the figures comprises a mobile chassis 1 which rests directly or by means of a suspension on two axles 2 carried by wheels 3.
This chassis 1 comprises the central element 4 of a plate 5 composed of this central element 4 and two lateral elements 6 which are articulated relative to the central element 4 and which fold down vertically during storage and transporting the podium.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
This chassis 1 also carries at each end a pair of telescopic masts 7.
Each telescopic mast 7 comprises a fixed lower part 8, fixed for example bolted to the chassis 1 and a mobile upper part 9 penetrating in the retracted position inside the fixed part 8.
The four telescopic masts 7 carry a roof structure 10 composed of a central element it fixed to the upper end of the movable parts 9 of the masts and two lateral elements 12 articulated relative to the central element 11, which fold back to the vertical downwards next to the side elements 6, during transport or storage.
These elements 11 and 12 are constituted by tubular structures and can be covered with a canvas.
The deployment of the side elements 12 can be assisted by jacks which hold the roof structure 10 in the deployed position.
On the chassis 1 are still mounted articulated and telescopic crutches 13 with rapid deployment to ensure the stability of the chassis 1 once the podium in place. Crutches 13 similar are mounted on the side elements 6 of the plate 5 to support them in the deployed position.
The plate 5 can also be provided with a floor, removable railings, an access staircase and other accessories. These accessories are known and are not shown in the drawings for the sake of simplicity.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In order to simultaneously control the four telescopic masts 7, a device 14 is provided which essentially comprises a drive shaft 15, drive means 16 for driving this shaft 15 and a transmission 17 between this shaft 15 and each telescopic mast 7.
The drive shaft 15 is housed in bearings 18 in the chassis 1, below the upper face of the plate 5 and extends in the longitudinal direction of the chassis 1, from the front end to the rear end, ie from a pair of telescopic masts 7 to the other pair.
The drive means 16 for this shaft 15 comprise a crank 19 connected to the shaft 15 by a gear wheel transmission comprising a small wheel 20 mounted on the crank 19 and a larger wheel mounted on the shaft 15.
This transmission is provided with a brake device, for example a brake shoe which can be pushed against the wheel 21 and with a non-return device, comprising for example a retaining pawl cooperating with the teeth of the toothed wheel 20.
The transmission 17 between the shaft 15 and each telescopic mast 7 comprises a flexible link 22 which is on the one hand wound on a drum 23 fixed on the shaft 15 and which is on the other hand fixed by a loop on the outside of the fixed part 8 and in particular at its upper end 24, of the mast in question.
The two flexible links 22 controlling the two masts 7 of the same pair, that is to say located at the same end of the chassis 1, are wound on a single drum 23 and in addition are united in a single length forming a uninterrupted element passing through the interior of the drum 23.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
This ensures perfect synchronization of the movement of the masts 7 of the pair and avoids the separate fixing of the two flexible links 22 to the drum 23.
This uninterrupted element forming the two flexible links 22 is effectively a strap, for example made of textile material.
Each flexible link 22 extends in transverse direction from the drum 23 to a deflection pulley 25 mounted on the lower end of the fixed part 8 of the telescopic mast 7 where this element changes direction over 900, goes up along from the outside of the fixed part 8, passes through two pulleys 26 and 27 mounted on the upper end 24 on the opposite side from the fixing of the end of the flexible link 22 to the fixed part 8, makes a U-turn around the return pulley 27 enters and descends in the fixed part 8 of the mast 7, makes a U-turn around a pulley 28 carried by the lower end of the movable part 9 of the mast 7 to join the upper end 24 of the fixed part 8 where the flexible element 22 is fixed to the outside.
Under the return pulley 25, an anti-slack roller 29 is mounted on the lower end of the fixed part 8 in an elastic manner, this roller 29 holding the flexible link 22 in the bottom of the pulley 25 during a possible loosening of this link.
During storage and transport of the podium, the four telescopic masts 7 are in the retracted position, the side elements 12 of the roof structure 10 are folded down and the side elements 6 of the platform 5 are folded up. , as shown in Figure 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
When the podium must be installed, it is transported to the desired location and the side elements 6 of the plate 5 are unfolded outwards and supported by crutches 13. The chassis 1 is also immobilized relative to the ground and stabilized by crutches 14.
Then, the side elements 12 of the roof structure 10 are unfolded outwards and locked in their unfolded position.
This roof structure 10 is then lifted using the four telescopic masts 7.
This is obtained by turning the crank 19 which drives, using the transmission 20, 21, with a certain reduction ratio, the drive shaft 15.
The four flexible links 22 are wound two by two on the drums 23. Thus the moving parts 9 of the four telescopic masts 7 are forced to come out of the fixed parts 8.
To lower the roof structure 10, the crank is turned in the opposite direction after the non-return device mounted on the toothed wheel 20 is eliminated or reversed.
The podium described above is of a relatively simple construction and allows the lifting of the roof construction 10 in a very easy manner by a single operator.
The device 14 for controlling the masts 7 is of an economical, compact and light construction and requires practically no maintenance.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
It is obvious that many modifications can be made to the example described above, without going beyond the ambit of the invention.
If the example described above is a mobile podium, it is obvious that the invention can also relate to a mobile platform.
