<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
extracteur (2).
La table de tri (4) est divisée en plusieurs postes successifs pour le tri manuel (5) des matières à base de carton, papier, et matière plastique, le tri des matières métalliques (6), le tri pneumatique (8) des matières les plus légères subsistant à ce stade du traitement et enfin la sélection des matières en verre (10). la table (4) est située sur une plateforme métallique ayant 20 à 30 m de longueur et 3 à 5 m de large, située 3 à 4 m au-dessus du niveau supérieur de la fosse (1) de réception des déchets, qui comprend deux planchers de circulation de part et d'autre de la table de tri. celle-ci porte un convoyeur horizontal à bandes et supports lisses, à tambours et rouleaux inférieurs, dont la vitesse de défilement peut être comprise entre 3 et 20 m/min environ et se prolonge sur la majeure partie de la longueur de la plateforme ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Process and installation for sorting and selection of urban waste.
The present invention relates to a method and an installation for sorting and selecting various bulk products, in particular urban waste and ordinary industrial waste in order to facilitate their recovery.
The collection and disposal of waste and household waste poses problems linked to the economy, ecology and regulations, the solutions of which are today often expensive and difficult to manage. Landfill at a suitable site has long been the most widely used solution, but sites are becoming scarce, those that exist are quickly saturated, and the need to preserve their environment considerably increases their operating costs.
Various replacement techniques have been proposed, and sometimes allow a certain recovery of the recovered waste, in particular in the form of energy production. The incineration technique has been developed in various variants, but raises difficulties in reducing or filtering the fumes or the various emanations of chlorine, carbon oxides or sulfur. Waste methanation processes have also been proposed, thus providing a certain form of recovery by producing methane, but these processes are generally of low profitability.
One solution envisaged in various techniques consists in carrying out a more or less selective sorting of waste at different stages, that is to say during collection or during treatment. The recycling, recovery or use of waste sorted in this way makes it easier to obtain various products such as composts, recycled paper or plastic, alternative fuels, etc. One of the main difficulties encountered in these techniques is to sort and select certain products in a mixture of various products in bulk, according to their shape, their nature, their weight, etc ...
Various methods for sorting or preparing household waste have been proposed, in particular by means of grids or lattices, by gas flow, by mechanical or pneumatic sorting.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tick, etc ... for example, patent FR 2,483. 389 describes a separation process combining several techniques, consisting of shredding household waste, separating it by two successive sieves, and then performing pneumatic sorting to obtain a separation between heavy products and light products. This process is however not very profitable and cannot be used industrially. Patent FR 2,599. 279 describes a process suitable for the separation of plastics contained in household waste, essentially by gravimetric flotation combined with centrifugation.
However, this technique is only suitable for waste containing a large proportion of plastics and requires working in a liquid medium, which then involves drying installations.
The subject of the present invention is a method of sorting and selecting urban and industrial waste applicable more generally to various bulk products, with a view to their recovery by recovery, recycling or reprocessing.
The invention also relates to an installation for implementing such a method.
The sorting and selection process for various bulk products, in particular urban and ordinary industrial waste, consists in carrying out a first sorting, by known means, of solid materials, based on paper, glass, metal, plastic, etc. .. then pour the resulting mixture into a moving bottom pit from which the materials are extracted to an elevating conveyor to be brought to a mobile sorting table on which paper, cardboard and plastics are sorted successively , by a technique known per se, then a magnetic sorting of metallic materials, a pneumatic sorting to eliminate the lightest materials and finally a selection of residual impurities and glass objects.
The installation according to the present invention comprises
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
- a movable bottom pit suitable for receiving bulk solids based on paper, glass, metal and plastic, - an elevating conveyor which receives the solid materials from the movable bottom of the pit, - a movable sorting table receiving at one end the materials discharged by the elevating conveyor and successively bringing them to a manual sorting station, a sorting apparatus for metallic materials, a pneumatic sorting apparatus for light materials and a glass discharge conveyor.
According to an additional characteristic of the installation of the invention, the glass evacuation conveyor at the end of the sorting table is partly slid below the plane of the table, in the extractor hood of the pneumatic sorting.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear in more detail in the description below, relating to a preferred form of implementation, with reference to the appended drawings, which represent a functional diagram of a sorting and selection installation d 'household waste (fig. 1), and a detail of preferred embodiment (fig. 2).
The installation shown diagrammatically in the attached FIG. 1 comprises a pit with a movable bottom (1) into which the waste obtained by selective collection is poured, making it possible to sort, at least briefly, and to separate the materials based on paper or cardboard, glass, metal and plastic. The tank must be watertight and of dimensions adapted to the volume of waste to be treated. For example, its depth can be between 2 and 3 m, its length between 10 and 20 m and its width between 2 and 5 m, these measures of course not being limiting. It can be made of any suitable material such as metal or concrete.
The movable bottom of the pit (1) preferably has a horizontal part (2a) extended by an inclined part (2b) at about 30 "exiting through an opening in the front wall of the pit and constitutes a conveyor
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
extractor (2). This conveyor (2) may include a reinforced rubber mat, and an appropriate device is provided to seal between the mat and the vertical edges of the pit in order to reduce as much as possible the number of interventions necessary for cleaning the bottom of pit (1). A horizontal cylinder (not shown) makes it possible to limit the height above the conveyor at the outlet from the bottom of the pit to eliminate excess material which could be entrained.
The conveyor (2) cooperates with a lifting conveyor (3), inclined at an angle preferably between 25 and 30, which transports the materials extracted from the pit (1) to the sorting table (4). The lifting conveyor (3) preferably comprises a partially horizontal lower part on which the materials extracted by the conveyor (2) are discharged. It is constituted by a usual device of the monobloc type with reinforced belt driven by chains.
The sorting table (4) is divided into several successive stations for manual sorting (5) of cardboard, paper and plastic materials, sorting of metallic materials (6), pneumatic sorting (8) of materials the lightest remaining at this stage of treatment and finally the selection of glass materials (10). the table (4) is located on a metal platform 20 to 30 m long and 3 to 5 m wide, located 3 to 4 m above the upper level of the waste receiving pit (1), which comprises two circulation floors on either side of the sorting table. the latter carries a horizontal conveyor with smooth bands and supports, with drums and lower rollers, the running speed of which can be between 3 and 20 m / min approximately and extends over most of the length of the platform;
the useful width of the mat is advantageously between 1 m and 1.5 m approximately.
The horizontal conveyor belt, driven by the endless belt, slides in front of the successive stations indicated above. At the manual sorting station (5), the sorting table
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
(4) includes cutouts for the installation of discharge channels for materials based on paper, cardboard and plastic, sorted and selected in the usual manner. These chutes are simply fitted into the cutouts of the table, and can be easily disassembled or contain equipment for transport packaging or preparation for subsequent recovery (for example a shredder).
After this first sorting, the remaining materials, entrained by the horizontal conveyor belt, pass in front of the sorting zone (6) of metallic materials, preferably comprising a magnetic sorting apparatus (7), for example a suspended apparatus of the type Overband with permanent magnets allowing sorting and selection of metal objects, mainly consisting of cans. This device can be combined with a shredder or a shredder.
The remaining materials entrained by the belt are then brought to the pneumatic sorting station (8) comprising a vacuum cleaner (9) essentially comprising a suction hood, a collector, a shredder fan and a separator-deflector provided with a lock. rotary evacuation, of the usual type. The suction socket is placed approximately 30 cm from the plane of the moving floor. This device eliminates the lightest materials (waste paper, cardboard, plastics, and glass fines).
Finally, the remaining materials, mainly comprising unsorted glasses, are brought to the station (10) constituted by an adjustable conveyor allowing the evacuation of recyclable glass in a removable bucket (not shown). This conveyor (10) is for example of the smooth belt and drum type, driven by a gear motor with adjustable speed.
According to a preferred embodiment, the conveyor (10) is combined with the pneumatic sorting station, as shown in FIG. 2.
As shown in Figure 2, the conveyor (10) is partly slid under the end of the sorting table (4), the distance separating the planes of the two moving belts from the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
table (4) on the one hand and the conveyor (10) on the other hand can be about 40 to 60 cm, the connection between the two belts being ensured by a lateral hopper secured to the sorting table (4). In this way, the conveyor (10) is partially placed in the suction air flow produced by the suction device (9).
The glass, essentially made up of various more or less broken bottles and flasks, is discharged by the conveyor (10) to a removable storage container. The various impurities (bricks, porcelain ...) are sorted and evacuated by the chute (11) and then join the evacuation of the light materials eliminated by the suction device (9), the fan-shredder (12), l lock (13) and a hopper (14).
