Abstract
The invention consists of a mechanism controlled by a catch (C. -diagram Iand II) integral with a gear (1 - diagram III) setting in motion verticalrods (2 and 3) which, positioned in ground housings and in the fixed jamblining (A - diagram I), in common door use (diagram I) retract, are releasedfrom the ground and from the fixed jamb lining, fit into the door housingsand render it integral with the mobile jamb lining. Simultaneously, thevertical rods (2 and 3), by the rack and pinion system, activate the gears(4) which in their turn allow a horizontal movement of the axes (5) which,disengaged from the housings of the fixed jamb lining, insert themselves intothe housings provided in the door thus creating the "emergency" use.

EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

EMI1.1
Mechanis e do Functionccnb-on case of emergency-opening a door for the rapid reversal of its sense of normal use.
The invention relates to a mechanism for a door which can, in an emergency, open quickly in the opposite direction to the normal, that is to say towards the outside of a dwelling. This door is the subject of patent n 862.242, classif.internat. E 06 B, read on 23.06. 1978.
In a home, the front door generally opens inward. In the event of an abnormal situation such as a disaster, fire or ill-health of the occupant, the exit to the outside is very often thwarted because of the fact that the occupant; taken in panic or as unawares, can no longer open the door by pulling it towards him.
The present invention, an essential complement to that carrying the no. 862. 242 cited above, makes it possible, by a simple action on a latch, to toggle the direction of opening of the door, thus releasing the outlet.
Diagram I represents the door, as a whole, in "current" use, diagram II represents it in "emergency" use. Diagram III represents the mechanism housed in the movable frame (rep.B in diagrams l el:; II), in "current" use position. Diagram IV shows this view in general with the situation of the hinges.
Operation of the mechanism to obtain the "emergency" position.
- The numbers of the parts listed below are identical to the numbers given in diagram III.
- The arrows shown in diagram III indicate the direction of movement of the parts.
- The arrows shown in diagram IV indicate the direction of opening of the door.

The latch (C diagrams I and II) gives the gear (1) a rotational movement in the direction of the floche.
This rotation sets in motion the two vertical rods (2 and 3) which completely emerge from the housings provided in the ground (rod 3) eL in the upper part of the fixed jamb (rod 2).
Thanks to the rack system, the vertical rods drive the three gears (4) in a rotational movement. The rotary movement of these gears causes a horizontal movement of the three axes (5) which, disengaging completely from the fixed jamb, slide in the housings provided in the door.
All these movements executed simultaneously are intended to free the movable jamb from the fixed jamb and
EMI2.1
to make it integral with the door.
Thanks to the hinges fixed between the movable jamb and the fixed jamb whose opening direction is reversed compared to the hinges placed for normal operation, between the door and the movable jamb, the door can open in the other direction. (diagram IV).
All the rods (2 and 3) and all the axes (5) of the assembly ensure that this is a rigid rigid, perfect both in "current" operation and in "emergency" operation since unlocking in one use is simultaneous with locking locking. self-use.
When the need to switch from "current" use to "emergency" use arises, a simple action on the latch - the door being closed - will be enough to activate the complete mechanism. To return to the "current" situation which will follow the "emergency" use, it will be enough, after having brought the door assembly to its closed position, to reposition the latch in its initial position,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the mechanism returning from its position.
"common".
The fact of having locked the door after a "current" use in no way prevents operation
EMI3.1
of the "emergency" mechanism, this being completely independent of the ordinary dull door closing mechanism.
