Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
fibres.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

DOUBLE BOTTOM ACOUSTIC AND THERMAL INSULATION ELEMENT,
IN PARTICULAR FLOORING OR PARTITIONING ELEMENT
The present invention relates to an acoustic and thermal insulation element with double bottom, which can be used as a floor or partitioning element.
From document FR-A-2 195 744, a double bottom slab of this type is known, in which a central material is covered with a plate on its upper and lower faces, a floor covering being glued on the top plate.
The separate bonding of a covering, a protective layer or a decorative layer represents, at the stage of manufacturing such double-bottomed slabs, an additional intervention which is not economical, apart from the presence, in the slab, an additional layer of adhesive.
According to the invention, this drawback is eliminated by providing a double bottom element of an improved type.
The invention will now be described in more detail by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawing in which the single figure is a fragmentary perspective, with cutaway, of a double bottom element conforming to
EMI1.1
the invention.
As shown in the single figure, the invention relates to a double bottom element comprising a central material 1 which is covered, on its upper and lower faces, by a respective plate 2 or 3 in a thermoplastic material reinforced with fibers, the plate upper 3 in a thermoplastic material reinforced with fibers being provided with a coating 4 which is connected, to said plate 3, without assistance. no adhesive. The sides of the central material 1, not covered with a plate, are covered with a metal jacket 5. This metal jacket 5 forms, to a certain extent, a frame which is intimately anchored with the plates reinforced by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
fibers.
This is obtained by the fact that the liner 5 is wider than the thickness of the central material 1, and is bent at right angles to the height of the plates 2, 3 reinforced by fibers, the bent metal surfaces then resting on the marginal zones upper and lower faces of said material 1, and being capped by said plates 2,3 to which they are connected. This composite structure is improved by the fact that the metal lining 5 is perforated. Another improvement in the composite structure results from the fact that the perforations made in the liner 5 are punched holes.
Another possibility, to ensure the intimate connection between the plates 2,3 reinforced by fibers and the metal lining 5, lies in the use of plates whose dimensions exceed those of the upper and lower faces of the double bottom element; and in the fact that, during the manufacturing process, the projecting surfaces of said plates 2,3 made of a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic material are bent, in a plastic state, in the direction of the metal lining 5 against which they are pressed.
In both cases, the metal jacket 5 is connected to the double bottom element without any additional adhesive.
The central material used is a material comprising multiple cavities, preferably a foam or a cellular material of any cellular geometry, consisting of conventional materials, preferably paper, cardboard or wood, these materials possibly being be provided with resins, or other agents increasing robustness and / or inalterability; however, it is also possible to use a combination of a cellular material with a foam or with a filling substance having multiple cavities.
In order to improve the fire resistance of the double bottom slab according to the invention, the central material 1 is flame retarded, either because the foam or the cellular material consists of a non-flammable material; the cellular material is impregnated or coated with flame retardants, for example salts or
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
conventional fire protection resins; or that a flame retardant material is included in the cells.
The thickness of the central material 1 is between 40 mm and 100 mm, preferably between 45 mm and 55 mm.
As a plate made of a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic material, it is possible to use all the plates which consist of a thermoplastic synthetic material reinforced by a fibrous fabric, by a fibrous card or by fibers distributed randomly in the matrix. syn-
EMI3.1
aesthetic. Plates of this type have a thickness of 2 mm to 5 mm, preferably 2.3 mm to 4 mm. Examples of thermoplastic plastics are polyolefins such as, for example, polyethylene, polypropylene and mixtures thereof, in addition polyvinyl compounds, as well as copolymers such as ABS or SAN, polyamides , polyacetals, polycarbonates or polyesters.
Examples of fibrous material are cellulose, hydrocarbon fibers, plastics, glass, minerals or ceramics.
It is preferable to use plates reinforced with glass fibers, in polyolefins and in particular in polypropylene. Such plates exist commercially under the name "GMT plates".
The coating 4 is connected without any adhesive to the plate considered 2 or 3 in a thermoplastic material reinforced by fibers, that is to say that it is directly anchored with the matrix of said thermoplastic material. It is therefore possible to use, as a coating 4, all the materials whose face facing the synthetic material is not smooth and which, in this way, allow mechanical anchoring with the matri-ce in thermoplastic material. Examples for this purpose are fabrics, wood, cork, felt or mineral materials, in particular carding or mineral aggregate.
However, composite materials which have a porous or rough surface, such as for example linoleum or
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
synthetic stone slabs with a bottom face made of mineral aggregate or expanded clay.
The double bottom elements according to the invention can have any external dimensions. Preferred dimensions are, respectively, 60 cm x 60 cm or 60 cm x 120 cm.
It goes without saying that many modifications can be made to the double bottom element described and shown, without departing from the scope of the invention.
