"Load limiter for cable hoists".
On electric hoists using cables such as hoists, winches and others, current safety standards require cutting the power, and stopping the lifting, as soon as the load to be lifted reaches 110% of the rated load of the craft.
In a previous application, n [deg.] 8800684, there is described an adapter of the load limiter for cable hoists with a view to its placement on installations prior to 1980, characterized in that a removable load cell is introduced into a box provided at its two ends of collar flanges, the load cell itself being fixed on the one hand to the box and on the other hand to a tie rod after having introduced the cable into this tie rod.
This adapter described in this previous application n [deg.] 8800684 has the drawback of using a load cell fitted with strain gauges, the deviations of which must be transmitted to the control devices of the hoist. It has an indirect intervention.
In the load limiter according to the present invention for wire rope hoists, any load greater than the admissible limit (100%) acts directly on electric microswitches without an intermediate load cell.
The load limiter according to the invention for cable hoists is characterized in that it comprises a spring leaf on which is preferably fixed in the middle a piece with an arcuate groove making it possible to fix the limiter to the cable to be checked while cable support pads are fixed respectively to each end of. this blade of. spring, these pads ensuring with the central part with an arcuate groove a certain deviation of the cable, which tends to be reduced under the action of the load, while causing a slight deformation by folding of said spring leaf, this deformation ensuring the control of two electronic micro-switches as soon as it exceeds a certain value corresponding to the maximum authorized load.
Other characteristics and advantages of the load limiter according to the invention for cable lifting devices will emerge from the description of such a load limiter illustrated by means of FIG. 1 appended to this description, representing a schematic section of a load limiter according to the invention in its various components.
The load limiter according to the invention for cable hoists is characterized in that it comprises a spring leaf (1) on which is fixed in its middle a slightly arched throat piece (2) on which the lifting cable (3) to be checked, the load limiter according to the invention being held on this lifting cable (3) by means of two support pads (4) and (5), held in place respectively at each of the ends of the leaf spring (1) by means of a baluster (6) respectively (7) fixed to this leaf spring (1). The fixing of the pads (4) and (5) of support on their respective columns (6) and (7) is such that the pads (4) and (5) of support have a certain play of movement so as to avoid the friction of the cable (3) on the pads (4) and (5) of support. To these same colonettes (6) and
(7) which pass through the spring leaf (1) are fixed perpendicular to this spring leaf (1) of the levers
(8) and (9), the lever (8) serving, at its other end, to support the microswitches (10), while the lever
(9) L-shaped, has at the end of its branch
(11) parallel to the leaf spring (1), adjusting screws
(12) with lock nut facing the pusher (13) micro-switches (10) mounted on the lever (8).
When loading the cable (3) of the hoist, the stiffening of the cable (3) exerts a pressure <EMI ID = 1.1>
bending of the blade (1) with spring of the load limiter according to the invention, on either side of the fixing nut (14) of the part (2) with an arcuate groove adhering to the cable (3) of the lifting gear. By this bending, amplified by the levers (8) and (9) the adjusting screws
(12) mounted on the lever - (10) approximate the pushers (13) of the micro-switches (12) mounted on the lever
(8) .. When the load exceeds the authorized load, the bending of the spring blade (1) is such that the adjustment screws (12) press on the pushers (13) which open or close the circuits passing through the microphones -switches (12). This current can be that directly actuating the lifting device in the case of low power vehicles, or that actuating a relay or circuit breaker for vehicles of higher power.
The load limiter according to the invention also has the possibility of greater rigor and efficiency by an adequate electronic assembly which is housed in the frame formed by the levers (8) and (9) with the blade (1). spring loaded load limiter according to the invention.
Thus, in an advantageous embodiment, the load limiter according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 - comprises an electronic circuit shown in FIG. 2.
The lever (8) carries two micro-switches ((SI) and
(S2) respectively preset the micro-switch (SI) to a load at 100% NO (normally open) - and the micro-switch
(S2) at a load - at 125% NF (normally closed).
The micro-switch (SI) is connected to a time relay so that short pulses on the micro-switch (SI) have no effect. When the pulse on the microswitch is of the order of a third of a second or more, the current reverses the contact of the relay Tl from terminal 16/17 to terminal 16/18, causing the instantaneous breaking of the contactor Cl, causing the two direct phases of lifting or the coils of the contactor controlling the lifting device to be cut off.
An overload of 125% causes the opening of the microswitch S2 causing the instantaneous opening of the contactor C1 and stops lifting as before.
On the other hand, as in usual applications, a normally closed contactor C2 resets the system to 0 after overload - and compulsory lowering of the load.
Security is also ensured in the event of a power cut. There is self monitoring.
Likewise, to ensure protection of the load limiter according to the invention against damage that may occur from the outside, it is possible to introduce the assembly formed by the spring leaf, the levers, the microswitches and the circuit. in a protective box fixed by means of a clip (15).
