Abstract

The analogue to digital conversion uses the division algorithm R(i+1) = 2.R(i) - bi in which bi (b1,b2,..bn) is the binary representation of the quotient N=R/D, and R(i) is the partial remainder of the division and is the resultant of each sequence of operations. The initial value R is that of the dividend R (measured value). Two comparisons are effected to determine each sign bit, knowing that bi = 1 if 2.R(i) is greater than D/2 bi = 0 if -D/2 is less than 2.R(i) is less than D/2 bi = -1 if 2.R(i) is less than -D/2.
