Abstract

The engine has a fuel and air intake, an exhaust outlet and an output drive shaft. A turbocharger has a turbine with an inlet and an outlet and a compressor with an inlet and an outlet. The turbine inlet is communicated with the engine exhaust outlet and the compressor outlet with the engine air intake. An auxiliary combustion chamber receives exhaust gases from the turbine outlet of the turbocharger. A power turbine is coupled to the drive shaft and driven by exhaust gases from the auxiliary combustion chamber for supplying auxiliary power to the drive shaft. -
