Abstract
The invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for application of cold foil material onto a sheet material in a processing machine. The problem of the invention is to improve a method and an apparatus of this kind so that the quality of the foil coating onto a sheet material is improved. This problem is solved by proceeding from an application tool to produce the required image, such that the sheet material (6) is coated with an adhesive (12), a cold foil material (7) is conveyed through a press gap (10) formed by a counter-pressure cylinder (2) guiding the sheet material (6) in the conveyance direction (3) and an additional cylinder (1), and in the press gap (10) the foil layer (7.3; 7.4) is pressed by a force onto sheet material (6) coated with adhesive (12) and that subsequent to the press gap (10), the cold foil material (7; 7.1 to 7.4) and the sheet material (6) being guided along the counter-pressure cylinder (2) and coated with adhesive (12) for the image to be produced, is transported at an angle of wrap a coincident to the counter-pressure cylinder (2) in the conveyance direction (3), that at the angle of wrap a at least the adhesive (12) is exposed to radiation or to drying and that in the conveyance direction (3) in an outlet gap (11) after the angle of wrap a, the cold foil material ( 7; 7.1 to 7.4) is separated into the foil substrate (7.1), the separating layer (7.2) and a non-imaging foil layer (7.3) of the foil layer and removed, and the sheet material (6) with adhesive (12) and an image-forming foil layer (7.4) of the foil layer is further carried along on the counter-pressure cylinder (2).
