Abstract
The rail carriage, and especially for an urban tramway, has a footplate (2) secured to the chassis (1). The driver's compartment has a seat (3) and an instrument panel (5) with the driving controls, together with an instrument cabinet (6) and a footrest. The driving seat, instrument panel and other units are fitted on a footplate section (8), mounted to the chassis within a footplate opening (9), with elastic movements across the direction of travel by a given amount (s).
