Bell-shaped insulator.
Several insulators are already known which are provided with a metal protective cap to protect the porcelain body against weather damage, etc.; other similar insulators are merely provided with an insulation support which supports one or more enamel-coated metal bells.
The disadvantage of these known insulators is that, on the one hand, the tightly enclosing oil cap does not offer sufficient protection against vibrations, etc., and on the other hand the connection between the metal cap and the insulation support is inadequate, which occasionally loosens under the influence of intense solar heat.
These inconveniences were eliminated by the construction of new types of insulators, which are provided with a protective cover, in which the inner core (insulator) and protective cover only touch in the head of the insulator, while otherwise a protective air space is provided between the two bodies.
The subject of the present invention is such an insulator, in which, in a novel way, the connection of the bell-shaped insulator to the metal cap takes place when the latter is enamelled, whereby a firm and permanent connection is achieved.
Such an isolator is shown in section in the accompanying drawing.
The bell insulator 1 made of porcelain or a similar material is connected to the metal protective cap 2 by an enamel layer 3; this is done by inserting the insulator body 1 when the metal protective cap 2 is covered with enamel for the third time, so that it fuses together with the outer jacket. In addition, an air space 4 is provided between the metal cap 2 and the insulator 7. This design enables the use of the bell insulators, known per se, in conjunction with a protective metal jacket, and thus a significantly increased durability, resistance and insulation achieved. It is therefore also possible to use this isolator for high-voltage currents without having to increase its dimensions.
The attachment to the carrier 5 swu. takes place in a known manner.
