Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of the metal additive of a sealing compound consisting of metal graphite, asbestos and neutral fat.
It is known to produce a kneadable stuffing box sealing compound in such a way that metal grit is intimately mixed with graphite, asbestos and a neutral lubricant and the mixture is shaped by pressing.
The invention consists in a particular method for producing the metal additive. Then the liquefied (molten) metal is poured into a bag made of gauze or other sieve material with the correct mesh size. This is e.g. B. made incombustible in a known manner by impregnation first with alum and then with ammonium sulfate, or a fabric made of plant fiber (jute) is used. In the latter case, impregnation is not necessary because this fabric is hardly attacked by the hot metal. The sachet is then rubbed on a preheated plate until most of the liquid metal has been rubbed through the mesh of the sachet and is thus obtained as metal grits or metal granules of great uniformity.
The pack is for every item of equipment such as steam, water Air, gas, acids and alkalis can be used equally advantageously.
