Verfahren zur Herstellung mehrschichtiger Platten aus Kunsthorn.
Es besteht in der Kunsthorn verarbeitenden Industrie das Bedürfnis, Platten aus mehreren
Schichten (verschiedener Färbung)-z. B. für Herstellung von Dominosteinen-herzustellen.
Bisher wurden solche Schichtplatte in der Weise erzielt, dass die schon gehärteten und getrockneten
Platten glatt abgeschliffen und dann unter Anwendung eines geeigneten Bindemittels miteinander ver- bunden wurden. Dieses Verfahren ist sehr kostspielig und besitzt den Nachteil, dass sich diese Verbindung bei Veränderung der Temperatur oder des Feuchtigkeitsgradcs der Gebrauchsgegenstände wieder löst.
Die Erfindung gibt nun einen neuen Weg zur Herstellung von Kunsthornplatten aus Eiweissstoffen aus mehreren Schichten an. Das Verfahren besteht darin, die hautartige Oberschicht, welche sich beim Pressen von Kasein, Blut, Albumim, Eiweissstoffen, gewonnen aus Pflanzensamen (Sojabohnen), u. dgl. aus den Presslingen bildet, z. B. durch Abhobeln oder Abschleifen zu entfernen ; die Pressstücke lassen sich dann durch nochmaliges Pressen unter hohem Druck und Wärme so vollkommen verbinden, dass sie praktisch eine Masse bilden, und in der üblichen Weise durch Formaldehyd härten.
Dieses Verfahren gestattet nicht nur die Herstellung geschichteter mehrfarbiger Platten, sondern auch das allgemeine Zusammenschweissen von Kunsthornplatten, Stäben usw. zu gewünschten Formen.
Beispiel : Angefeuchtete, nach Wahl gefärbtes, pulverförmiges Kasein wird in bekannterweise durch Kneten auf Walzen und nachfolgendes Pressen in Formen zu Platten vereinigt. Die so erhaltenen Platten werden durch Abschaben von der hautartigen Oberschicht befreit. Die Platten werden alsdann aufeinandergelegt und in Formen zusammengepresst, wobei eine völlige Verbindung der Platten eintritt.
Verwendet man Platten von verschiedenen Farben, z. B. schwarz und weiss, so erhält man Platten, die aus zwei gleichmässigen Schichten in schwarzer und weisser Farbe bestehen. Das Zusammenpressen erfolgt am besten bei einer Temperatur von 70 und einem Druck von 150-220 kg pro Quadratzentimeter.

The invention now provides a new way of producing synthetic horn plates from proteins made of several layers. The process consists in removing the skin-like top layer, which is formed when casein, blood, albumime, protein substances, obtained from plant seeds (soybeans), etc. are pressed. Like. B. can be removed by planing or grinding; The pressed pieces can then be so completely connected by pressing again under high pressure and heat that they practically form a mass and harden in the usual way with formaldehyde.
This process allows not only the manufacture of layered, multicolored panels, but also the general welding together of artificial horn panels, rods, etc. into desired shapes.
Example: Moistened, optionally colored, powdery casein is combined in a known manner by kneading on rollers and subsequent pressing in molds to form plates. The plates obtained in this way are freed from the skin-like top layer by scraping. The plates are then placed on top of one another and pressed together in molds, the plates being completely connected.
If you use plates of different colors, e.g. B. black and white, you get panels that consist of two even layers in black and white color. Compression is best done at a temperature of 70 and a pressure of 150-220 kg per square centimeter.
