Process for making colored shaped articles from materials to be hardened by heating and under pressure.

The manufacture of shaped articles such as buttons and the like. Like., from substances to be hardened by heating and under pressure, such as natural and artificial resins and casein masses, can be done in such a way that the material is pressed in a hot press or finished sheets are processed or the liquefied material is poured into molds.

The disadvantage here is that a pattern with different drawings and colors is either not possible at all or only partially. A drawing can only be applied in such a way that the finished material is sprinkled with dye solutions or dye mixtures. It has been shown here that durable coloring is not possible.

The investigations made into the reason for this phenomenon have shown that the cause can be seen in the lack of porosity. The coloring only takes place when coherent materials are already present. However, these coherent masses do not sufficiently absorb dye solutions or dye mixtures.

It has now been shown that an advantageous coloring can be achieved using stencils if one first comminutes the, best in powder form

gives a lying shape, but still retains the porosity. For example, the user is treated in a tablet machine or other molding machine. The thus obtained, still porous, but already shaped objects are placed under templates and then in the known manner with dye mixtures or dye solutions. for heat treatment by spraying or atomizing. The objects are then finished in a known manner by heating, if necessary with the application of pressure.

The present process is particularly suitable for condensation products from formaldehyde and phenols; the intermediate product is used which is formed during this rondensation.

The dyes that can be used are both inorganic and organic in nature. you
