Process for the preparation of solid iodine solutions to replace iodine tincture.
EMI1.1
Effect of one of the most common means in medical practice. However, there are certain difficulties and inconveniences associated with its use. It is uneconomical to use, as a large part of the material is lost with the swabs soaked with it. It's uncomfortable. since the iodine tincture everything. whatever it only comes into contact with, soiled and destroyed, which means that keeping it and taking it with you in the doctor's bag is associated with inconvenience and danger.
It would therefore be of practical importance. to find a preparation. which enables the use of the free iodine in solid form, d. H. a solid iodine solution, which can be rubbed on the skin or, after previously wetting the area to be treated with an appropriate liquid, brought into iodine-tincture-like solution there.

embarrassing, drying and tanning the skin. as well as the bacteria mechanically fixing force.
These properties are only partially and much weaker in ointment-like preparations. because they lack the basic requirement of complete drying of the coating, leaving behind an iodine layer.
The solvent, which is harmless to the organism and is solid at normal temperature, must therefore be chosen so that it leaves the iodine chemically free as possible and that, due to its volatility - as is the case with real iodine tincture - leaves an iodine coating on the skin. Al- such volatile, solid, iodine-dissolving substances would be u. a. Menthol. Hexachloroethane. Paradise lobenzene. Hexachlorobenzene. as well as their mixtures. Mixtures of the substances mentioned with thymol, camphor, alcohol, etc. can also be used.
