Description
Electrode for introducing medicines into the body using iontophoresis It is known to introduce therapeutic agents into the body by means of iontophoresis by either applied the remedy in liquid form to the skin and then using it one pole of a power source is connected while the other Pole is connected to any other part of the body, so that it is in the body incoming current introduces the remedy into the body, or by using the Remedies a soakable pad, z. B. a cotton ball ,, is soaked and this pad is then placed under one electrode on the skin. Both Procedures have the common disadvantage that with remedies that are in larger doses or high concentrations have a toxic effect on the body, only through iontophoresis the doctor can run, since he does not have the remedy in the patient Shake hands. This applies e.g. B. to for the healing of rheumatic pain, by introducing 3-imidazolylethylamine into the body through iontophoresis is done because of this remedy. its toxicity only in very specific quantities or concentrations may be applied so that for each individual treatment the doctor must be consulted, which is precisely the frequency of rheumatic pain is cumbersome and expensive.
Furthermore, the usual procedure is uneconomical even in the hands of the doctor, since usually much more of the remedy is applied to the pad than necessary, and the base must be removed after a single use. These difficulties are avoided according to the invention by a device that the introduction of the remedy through iontophoresis made possible by the patient himself, without poisoning is to be feared. The subject of the invention is a soaked with the imported remedy in the permitted amount and concentration, made of impregnable material for the to be treated Part of the body to be placed on the electrode. This prepared base, which z. B. made of filter paper, Blotting paper, tissue o. The like. Can exist, the patient can safely into the Hand should be given, since abuse is ruled out, so that the patient is enabled, e.g. B. his rheunatic pain from iontophoresis self-treating without consulting a doctor. As a result of the now possible Exact dosage of the haymaking can be done with the aid of the device according to the invention Considerable savings can also be achieved in this regard, 'because actually only that amount is applied to the base that is necessary for a treatment is. The remedy is expediently a disinfectant, z. B. thymol, added to prevent any decomposition of the remedy over a long period of time To prevent storage of the substrate soaked with it. As a base, either -As already mentioned, filter paper or the like. Serve in which after soaking with the remedy dissolved in the water evaporates the water and only the remedy in the pad remains so that moistened before use must be to allow the passage of current, or you can for the pad also hygroscopic substances, such as B. Hectograph mass, use that is constantly moist remain so that the pad can easily be used for iontophoresis even after prolonged storage can be used.
It is particularly useful to use the pad as an electrode at the same time to form by providing them with a metallic top layer, which then both iontophoresis is connected to the positive pole of the power source in such a way that that the current on the metallic cover layer over the soaked with the remedy Pad enters the body.
The metallic cover layer can consist of a for electrodes customary metal foil exist or in a known manner means the Schoop spraying process or .galvanoplastically applied to the base be.
