Glühfaden für Vakuumröhren.
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Glühfaden für Vakuumröhren. Erfindungsgemäss hat es sich gezeigt, dass sich ein netzartiges Gitter, das als Zylinder mit einem sehr engen Durchmesser aus sehr feinen Drähten von hochschmelzendem Material, z. B. Wolfram, hergestellt ist, vorzüglich dazu eignet, als Glühfaden in einer Vakuumröhre verwendet zu werden. Für die Grösse des Thermionenstromes kommt es nämlich wesentlich darauf an, dass die Oberfläche recht gross gewählt werden kann. Nun ist es nicht möglich, Wolframmaterial zu sehr feinem Blech, d. h. zu Folie zu verarbeiten. Das Verhältnis von Oberfläche zu Querschnitt wird jedoch ausserordentlich günstig, wenn man einen Körper nach der Erfindung als Glühfaden verwendet.
Der mit demselben Leistungsaufwand erhaltene Thermionenstrom ist um ein Mehrfaches grösser, als der mit einem Massivdraht gleichen Querschnitts erhaltene Strom. Weiterhin hat dieser Körper den Vorteil einer recht erheblichen Elastizität, durch welchen Umstand das Zerreissen des Fadens vermieden wird.
Die Herstellung des neuen Glühfadens kann in der Weise geschehen, dass feinste Einzeldrähte aus hochschmelzendem Material, z. B. Wolfram, durch Verseilen, Verklöppeln oder Verweben zu einem zylindrischen Netz geringen Durchmessers vereinigt werden.

The invention relates to a filament for vacuum tubes. According to the invention it has been shown that a net-like grid, which is a cylinder with a very narrow diameter made of very fine wires of high-melting material, such. B. tungsten, is ideally suited to be used as a filament in a vacuum tube. For the size of the thermionic current, it is essential that the surface can be chosen to be quite large. Now it is not possible to convert tungsten material to very fine sheet metal, i.e. H. to be processed into foil. However, the ratio of surface area to cross section is extremely favorable when a body according to the invention is used as a filament.
The thermionic current obtained with the same power expenditure is several times greater than the current obtained with a solid wire of the same cross section. Furthermore, this body has the advantage of a very considerable elasticity, which prevents the thread from tearing.
The production of the new filament can be done in such a way that the finest individual wires made of high-melting material, e.g. B. tungsten, can be combined by stranding, braiding or weaving to form a cylindrical network of small diameter.
