Drive for the cross supports on turret lathes, semi-automatic machines and the like.
The invention relates to the drive for the cross supports in turret lathes, semi-automatic machines and the like. The purpose of the invention is to eliminate the disadvantages associated with the previously known devices of this type - in which the part which mediates the movement of the cross supports is regularly recurring coupled to the reciprocating member moving the longitudinal turret slide, and this is primarily done by the fact that a bushing is rigidly connected to the rack that moves the longitudinal turret slide and goes back and forth, which surrounds a cylindrical body coupled to the rack that moves the cross supports and is coupled to this regularly in the sense of a movement of the cross supports as it usually slides over him. 'It has proven advantageous
to effect the coupling by means of a driver pin which is removably arranged in the sleeve and which slides in a self-contained groove of the cylindrical body of such an arrangement that it only around its longitudinal axis during several, for example three, to and fro movements of the sleeve advances a certain central angle, but with the last, for example the fourth to-and-fro movement of the bushing, it takes the cylinder with it and brings it back into its original position, whereupon the game starts again.
EMI1.1
On the reciprocating rack 4 moving the longitudinal turret slide 6, a bushing 6 is fastened by means of screws, which in its. cylindrical bore the shift cylinder 7 receives. This is coupled to the rack 10 moving the cross supports through the intermediary of the tie rod 8. Adjusting rings 9, of which only one is drawn, allow any adjustment of the distance between the shift cylinder 7 and rack 10. The shift cylinder 7 has six long grooves 11 and two short grooves 12 distributed evenly over its circumference parallel to its axis 13 are alternately combined to form a closed groove track. A driver pin 14 removably mounted in the bush 7 engages in this groove track.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: During the reciprocating movement of the sleeve 6, the driver pin 14 slides in the longitudinal grooves 11 and at the end of each movement rotates the switching cylinder 7 through the inclined grooves 13 by 450. The switching cylinder 7 is therefore as long as possible Still in the longitudinal direction until the driver pin 14 runs into the first of the short grooves 12, which prevents the pin from further longitudinal sliding, so that it now has to take the shift cylinder with it, which movement through the tie rod 8 and the rack 10 on the shaft of the cross support is transmitted. During the next movement of the bush 6, the driver pin 14 enters the second short groove 12 and brings the shift cylinder back into its original position, whereupon the game begins again.
It is to be regarded as particularly advantageous that in the individual work steps all parts are only subjected to tensile stress, which excludes springs. Moving

Cross support stopped and completely switched off from the gearbox, which is a great advantage, especially when setting the machine. The arrangement requires very little power consumption, which is zero when idling.
