  HARBURGER GUMMI-KAMM Co. IN HAMBURG.

HARBURG RUBBER COMB Co. IN HAMBURG.

Power insulator for overhead lines in electric railways.

The subject of the present invention is a power insulator for the insulation of the tension wires of electrical lines, consisting of a rectangular, round or oval metal ring a, which is completely surrounded by an insulation layer c and is inserted into the tension wires to avoid any current transfer in rain or snow. The ring-shaped body a can be made of iron or steel and its dimensions depend on the demands made on the insulator for tensile strength. Instead of the simple ring shape, one can also choose the shape of a buckle by arranging a web b in the middle and surrounding this with a hard rubber layer r, provided that the insulator is to be used to suspend the power line at the same time, as shown in FIG. 1 and 2 is shown.

The tension wires grip here in the holes 9 of the two tabs f made of flat iron, which are placed around the insulator at both ends, while the downwardly directed tab h is placed around the middle web b, to which the power line is attached. Since the surface of the insulator consists of a non-conductive insulation layer c, a current transfer from the tab x to the tabs q cannot take place either. It should be noted here that the metal body a is completely surrounded by the insulation layer c and that the latter is also of sufficient thickness everywhere, while the external shape of the insulator is absolutely irrelevant.

A simple, circular or oval ring with and without a central web b can be used for this with the same success, just as the whole can be given the shape of a rectangle or square, if one only takes into account that the central metal body a is uniformly integrated everywhere a sufficiently thick layer c of any good insulation material, such as hard rubber, ambroin or the like. Is embedded.
