In einem Kessel ABC D schwimmt die hutförmig ausgebildete Rose L. Dieselbe ist mit drei Einteilungen versehen, und zwar : i. auf der oberen Fläche des Hutes E F ;

Compass, especially for aircraft.
The present invention relates to a compass, particularly for aircraft.
The compasses previously used in aircraft have been adopted by shipping with minor modifications; as a result, they show a system of roses floating in a cauldron and viewed from above. In addition, compasses are known for land surveying which have a vertical division on a cylindrical magnet system. To make it easier for the observer to read the direction of the magnet, compasses with reflections are already available. In addition to the compass systems, in which vertical divisions are provided on a cylindrically designed rose system, which are visible from the side through windows in the housing of the compass, there are also those in which the rose system is not cylindrical but is designed like a truncated cone, whereby- the division is attached to the inclined surface of the cone jacket.
The housing of the compass is designed in this case similar to the magnet system and the window is accordingly on the inclined cone surface. All these known systems have the disadvantage that the observer who is often standing in the aircraft cannot see them at all or can only see them in great proximity and only from a very limited location. In contrast, the present invention relates to a compass which is designed in such a way that a reading can be made with certainty by the pilot or the observer, whatever position he may be in.
The subject matter of the invention consists in the fact that the rose system has a multiple division that is formed on the hat-shaped; The Rosel1system is so attached. that a division must always be recognizable with certainty. In accordance with this hat-shaped design, the housing is designed so that it is transparent at the top and at the side at the same time. The hat-shaped body is also equivalent to those forms of the rose system in which protruding surfaces are present in such an arrangement that from different locations. at least one is clearly recognizable to the observer.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the compass.
The hat-shaped rose L floats in a cauldron ABC D. It has three divisions, namely: i. on the upper surface of the hat E F;
2. on the vertical, cylindrical part that goes from E to G, and
3. on the diagonally flanged edge or brim of hat G to H.
In the housing there is a window IK at the top and a window MNO at the side.
PATENT CLAIMS: i; Compass, in particular for aircraft, characterized in that the rose system is provided with a multiple graduation, which is arranged on the hat-shaped rose in such a way that there is one graduation each on the cylindrical and brim-like part of the hat.
