Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

   In the previous designs of electromagnets and transformers with vertically arranged cores, the coolant moves past the outer and sometimes also the inner circumference of the winding coils. Even if the coils are divided into horizontal levels, as is regularly the case with high-voltage windings, the horizontal slots between the individual coils are indeed filled with coolant, but this does not circulate, but remains at rest and therefore does not participate significantly in the Dissipation of heat.

   According to the invention, however, the coolant, be it liquid (oil) or gaseous (air), is forced, in addition to the vertical coil walls of the outer and inner circumference, to also coat the horizontal boundary surfaces of the disc-shaped coils and thus a much better, faster continuation of the To cause heat than in the previous arrangement. For this purpose, insulating cylinders are arranged inside and outside of the coils in a manner known per se at a certain distance from the coils allowing the circulation of the coolant. The desired horizontal flow of the coolant is now achieved according to the invention by covering the space between the coils and the inner insulating cylinder on the one hand and the space between the coils and the outer insulating cylinder on the other.

   According to FIG. I, where a is the winding, b is the inner and c is the outer insulating cylinder, a flow will then take place, for example, from below inside and upwards outside. The horizontal cover plates e, f prevent the usual flow, which is directed directly from below upwards.

   This arrangement can also be repeated several times on the same core, which is shown in FIG. Here the horizontal ring disks e, f are alternately attached to the inner cylinder b and to the outer cylinder c, so that the coolant takes the zigzag course indicated by the arrow line. It flows through the same path when the insulating washers e, f according to FIG. 3 are inserted between two coils each, so that they are held by them.

   If the cores are arranged horizontally, the new device can also be used in the event that the coolant is artificially circulated.
