Process for cleaning machine oils.
Given the great lack of oils, there is an urgent need that all machine oils are cleaned after they have been used and then used again for their intended purpose. After use, the oil almost always contains water and other foreign constituents, which can only be removed very poorly by treatment with sulfuric acid and subsequent leaching, by filtration or in any other way that is usual in such cases.

Claims (1)
The invention now relates to a method for cleaning machine oils, with the application of which all foreign substances are completely removed. According to the invention, the glycerine pitch, which is known to be highly hygroscopic, is heated in a kettle with the addition of about 25% water and thickened to a syrupy strength. About 20 parts of contaminated machine oil are added to one part of this mass and the mixture is brought to a boil. If the liquid wants to foam over, then some oil is added and the mixture is then boiled for about two hours. When it cools and lets it stand, which takes about 15 hours, completely pure oil is deposited on the foreign matter that sinks to the bottom and on the mixture of water and glycerine pitch and it can be bottled in a known manner.
If the contaminated oil contains only a small amount of water, an addition of water of about 1 ½ times the weight of the oil is necessary.
PATENT-ANSPRUCH :
