Verfahren zum Trocknen von Lackleder o. dgl.
Die Erfindung erstreckt sich auf solche Verfahren zum Trocknen von Lackleder, bei denen das ofentrockene Leder in mit Luft gefüllten Räumen der Einwirkung kurzwelligen, an ultravioletten Strahlen reichen Lichtes ausgesetzt wird. Bei derartigen Verfahren besteht der Übelstand, dass sich bei der Bestrahlung infolge der Anwesenheit von Luft Ozon bildet, das sich bekanntlich als schädlich für die Trocknung erwiesen hat. Um diesen Übelstand ohne völligen Ausschluss der Luft nach Möglichkeit zu beseitigen, führt man gemäss der Erfindung in den Trockenraum eine gewisse Menge Kohlensäure, Stickstoff, oder anderer indifferenter Gase ein, wodurch eine wesentliche Verringerung der Ozonbildung und damit auch der nachteiligen Einwirkung des Ozons erreicht wird.
Bei diesem Verfahren ist also, wie aus dem Vorstehenden ersichtlich, stets noch Luft in dem Trockenraum vorhanden, da man annimmt, dass, wie bei dem früher üblichen Fertigtrocknen des Lackleders im Sonnenlicht, auch bei dem Fertigtrocknen unter dem Einfluss des kurzwelligen Lichtes atmosphärischer Sauerstoff. zur Erzielung guter Resultate vorhanden sein muss.

The invention extends to such methods for drying patent leather, in which the oven-dry leather is exposed to the action of short-wave light rich in ultraviolet rays in rooms filled with air. In such processes there is the disadvantage that ozone is formed during irradiation as a result of the presence of air, which, as is known, has proven to be harmful to drying. In order to eliminate this inconvenience as far as possible without completely excluding the air, according to the invention a certain amount of carbonic acid, nitrogen or other inert gases is introduced into the drying room, whereby a substantial reduction in ozone formation and thus also the adverse effect of ozone is achieved .
With this method, as can be seen from the above, air is always present in the drying room, since it is assumed that, as with the previously customary final drying of patent leather in sunlight, atmospheric oxygen also during final drying under the influence of short-wave light. must be present to achieve good results.
