Verfahren zur Leimung von Papier mittels Montanwachs.
Die Leimung des Papiers im Stoff geschah bisher fast ausschliesslich unter Verwendung von Harzleim, indem eine durch Kochen von Koniferenharz (Kolophonium) mit Alkalien (Soda, Pottasche oder Gemischen von beiden hergestellte und durch Verdünnen mit der erforderlichen Meuge Wasser in eine Emulsion übergeführte Harzseifenlösung dem
Papierstoff im Holländer einverleibt und durch Zusatz von Tonerdesalzen oder anderen geeigneten Mitteln in der Faser niedergeschlagen und fixiert wurde.
Versuche haben nun ergeben, dass sich das Baumharz (Kolophonium) für diesen Zweck sehr vorteilhaft durch Montanwachs ersetzen lässt.
Das aus der Braunkohle gewonnene Montanwachs kann durch Kochen mit Atzalkalien in ganz ähnlicher Weise verseift und in eine haltbare Emulsion übergeführt werden wie Koniferenharz (Kolophonium). Wird diese Lösung nun ganz wie die Harzseifenlösung dem Papierstoff im Holländer zugesetzt und analog wie bei der Harzleimung Tonerdesalze oder ähnliche Mittel zugegeben, so wird das Montanwachs in derselben Weise wie das Harz in der Faser niedergeschlagen und fixiert.

The sizing of the paper in the fabric has so far been done almost exclusively using resin glue, in which a resin soap solution prepared by boiling conifer resin (rosin) with alkalis (soda, potash or a mixture of both and then converted into an emulsion by diluting with the required amount of water)

Tests have now shown that the tree resin (rosin) can be replaced very advantageously with montan wax for this purpose.
The montan wax obtained from the lignite can be saponified by boiling with caustic alkalis in a very similar way and converted into a durable emulsion as coniferous resin (colophony). If this solution is now added to the paper stock in the Hollander just like the resin soap solution and alumina salts or similar agents are added analogously to resin sizing, the montan wax is precipitated and fixed in the fiber in the same way as the resin.
