Process for dewaxing residues from paraffin refining.
One of the mostly used methods for cleaning the raw paraffin is that it is first treated with sulfuric acid and after draining the sulfuric acid, which absorbs the main impurities, the paraffin is further treated with a decolorizing powder (magnesium hydrosilicate, fuller's earth and the like), whereby it can then be obtained completely white. The decolorizing agent is separated from the molten paraffin by filtration and this powder remains mixed
EMI1.1
To obtain paraffin which still remains in it, the extraction is carried out as a rule with gasoline in its own extraction apparatus. The gasoline washes the paraffin out of the decolorizing agent by dissolving it, and the paraffin is then obtained in pure form by evaporating the gasoline.
This process has the disadvantage that manipulation with gasoline, which is usually dangerous, is necessary, that this results in a very large amount of steam, separate extraction systems have to be built and, in addition, the process due to the poor solubility of the paraffin in gasoline runs slowly and imperfectly and ultimately unavoidable gasoline losses have to be accepted.
According to the invention, the paraffin is recovered from the decolorizing agent in such a way that, instead of the gasoline, the material is mixed with a non-paraffinic or weakly paraffinic oil, which together with the paraffin forms a solution of paraffin oil, e.g. B. is mixed with ordinary dewaxed blue oil and heated. The B! auöl has the property of quickly and completely dissolving paraffin. A solution of paraffin in oil is then formed, i.e. the so-called paraffin oil, which returns to the normal production cycle and can be completely recovered from the paraffin to the known extent by cooling and filtration.
The advantages of the process are that there is no need to work with gasoline. Instead of the complicated extraction apparatus, a simple vessel with a stirrer is required, in which the decolorizing powder can be completely leached from the paraffin by blowing in blue oil or the like and mixing it with a stirrer.
