  Lagermetall.

  Bearing metal.

It is well known that zinc and lead cannot be used to produce an alloy. which has high compressive strength and low shrinkage and is homogeneous. to serve as a bearing metal.

The invention described below, which is based on observations, proves that the deficiencies of an alloy of zinc and lead can be remedied by a certain iron content, so that a usable bearing metal is produced.

The procedure can be structured as follows:
A zinc iron alloy is melted in a graphite crucible; after the scabies is gone, lead is added. stir enough. fills the alloy obtained in molds
 EMI1.1
   94 # 31%.

Tests have shown that an increase in the melting temperature of the hard zinc and iron mixture with a simultaneous increase in the iron content results in an even higher compressive strength, namely when using a melting temperature of 1000 C and increasing the iron content to 3%, a compressive strength of 1620 per c / M.

The upper and lower limits for the individual components are such that the
 EMI1.2
Lead within the limits of 1 to 5%.
