Tri-or multi-component aluminum alloys.
You can find low percentages of silicon in almost all alloys of aluminum. u. between about 0.5 to 2%. The silicon is not considered special to the alloys
EMI1.1
Aluminum-silicon alloys are known in pretty much all mixing ratios. Also ternary alloys, e.g. B. with additives of iron (up to 15%), copper (up to 2 o) and magnesium (up to 1%). have been described. The alloys with iron up to 15% have proven useless as a construction material. The properties of the alloys with copper and magnesium differ only to such an extent from the binary alloys that they are not characterized by any special technical properties.
In the literature there is also the view that higher silicon contents worsen the mechanical properties of the alloys.
It has now been found, surprisingly, that the alloys of aluminum with zinc, copper, silver, tin, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, chromium, manganese can be achieved by adding more silicon.
Titanium, tungsten and the multicomponent alloys of these metals with aluminum are noticeably improved in their mechanical properties. First and foremost, the strength and hardness are increased: the alloys are also more resistant to chemical influences and the effects of atmospheric substances; In addition, they are distinguished from low-silicon alloys by their lower specific weight. The structure of the alloys is very fine crystalline and uniform. The alloys are easier to cast than the other known aluminum alloys. They are characterized in particular by the fact that they do not tend to form cracks when solidifying, unlike the other alloys.
This knowledge represents a technical advance, in particular because they make these alloys cheaper than the usual aluminum alloys on the market.
Alloys in which the silicon content is between 5 and 200 ° have proven to be particularly useful. The content of the other components is at least 2% and has an upper limit so that the final alloys always have an aluminum content of over 50%. For the

The alloys can be produced in any desired way, for example by direct melting together or directly by reaction or by electrolysis.
It was also found that the alloys mechanically, that is by pressing, rolling, forging, and by heat treatment, e.g. B. tempering, tempering, quenching, can be refined.
