Entgegen den bekannten Sargfüssen ist der neue Fuss in seinem Unterteil a glatt ausgekehlt und der obere Teil b ist stark im Material gehalten und kranz-und krausenförmig gestaltet. Dadurch ergibt sich der Vorteil, dass im Oberteil mehr Masse vorhanden ist, so dass der Sargfuss einen besseren Stand durch das nach vorne verlegte Gewicht hat und ausserdem von besonderer Haltbarkeit ist. Dazu kommt noch der Vorzug einer leichteren Bearbeitung, die es   ermöglicht,   den neuen Sargfuss bei   äusserst   gefälliger Form doch billig auf den Markt bringen zu können.

   Der Vorzug leichterer Bearbeitung ergibt sich daraus, dass man ver-   hältnismässig   wenig Holzmassen vom geschnittenen   Sargfl1ss   abzufräsen braucht, so dass für die Werkzeuge kein tiefer Eingriff erforderlich wird. Auch fallen besondere Nacharbeiten, wie solche bei vielen anderen, vollwertigen Holzsargfilssen erforderlich sind, beim neuen Sargfuss weg.
