  Kerzendocht. 



   Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet ein aus Papiergarnen hergestellter Kerzendocht, der erfindungsgemäss durch nachstehend   beschriebenes Imprägnierungsverfahren   die einem Baumwolldocht innewohnenden Eigenschaften, wie Aufsaugungsfähigkeit und   dgl.,   im vollen Masse erhält. 



   Das durch wiederholtes Zusammendrehen schmaler, beliebig langer Papierstreifen gebildete Papiergarn wird zunächst auf der Glänzmaschine mit Paraffin trocken gebürstet, um die Glätte des Papiergarnes zu erhöhen. 



   Die auf diese Art vorpräparierten Papiergarne werden sodann auf der Flechtmaschine zu   Kerzendochten verflochten   und diese Dochte bei   1000 C   15 bis 30 Minuten in Wasser ausgekocht. 



   Hierauf wird das ausgekochte Produkt in einer Sodalösung bei 100  C etwa eine Viertelstunde lang gereinigt, wobei die Gewichtsmenge der in der Sodalösung enthaltenen Soda zirka   100 0   des Gewichtes der in dieses Bad kommenden Dochtmenge beträgt. 



   Die in dieser Weise gereinigten Kerzendocste werden in kaltem Wasser   nachgereinigt   und sodann mit einer Alaunlösung bei 80"C imprägniert. Hiebei entspricht die Gewichtsmenge des in der Alaunlösung enthaltenen Alauns je nach Erfordernis zirka 5 bis 10   der Gewichtsmenge des in diese   Lösung gelangendon Kerzendochtes.

   The subject matter of the invention is a candle wick made from paper yarns which, according to the invention, by means of the impregnation process described below, fully acquires the properties inherent in a cotton wick, such as absorbency and the like.



   The paper yarn, formed by repeatedly twisting together narrow paper strips of any length, is first dry-brushed with paraffin on the polishing machine in order to increase the smoothness of the paper yarn.



   The paper yarns prepared in this way are then braided into candle wicks on the braiding machine and these wicks are boiled in water at 1000 C for 15 to 30 minutes.



   The boiled product is then cleaned in a soda solution at 100 ° C. for about a quarter of an hour, the weight of the soda contained in the soda solution being approximately 100% of the weight of the amount of wick coming into this bath.



   The candle doctrines cleaned in this way are cleaned in cold water and then impregnated with an alum solution at 80 ° C. The amount by weight of the alum contained in the alum solution corresponds to about 5 to 10 of the amount by weight of the candle wick that got into this solution.
