Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Verfahren zur Verarbeitung von r a f f i n i e r t e m P e t r o l e u m.

Method for processing r a f f i n i e r t e m P e t r o l e u m.
It is a known fact that refined petroleum is subject to decomposition in contact with hot, tensioned water vapors. The present invention consists in avoiding this decomposition by using only 100 degree vapors. These vapors separate refined petroleum into a volatile and non-volatile constituent, the volatile constituent being suitable as an excellent substitute for turpentine as a result of the gentle treatment and the absence of any decomposition products.
For example, refined Romanian petroleum with a specific gravity of 0 # 810 is produced with the aid of the method shown in the drawing,

its boiling limits are 800 to 1350; the boiling limits of the non-vaporous constituent are 1200 to 2300. The vaporous constituent is particularly suitable as a turpentine substitute because it 1. has great dissolving power for resins, 2. a flash point of 28 to 30 "and 3. does not evaporate too quickly.
