  Schutzschild.

  Protective shield.

A protective shield is known from patent no. 65710 which consists of two plates which are bent at an angle one or more times and which are connected to one another approximately in a cross shape. This enables a slight forward movement of the shield with good coverage of the shooter during the movement. The releasable connection of the two plates forming the protective shield takes place by means of brackets or the like arranged on a plate, which overlap the edge of the other plate at the joint between both plates.

In the practical testing of the protective shield, a securing device has now proven to be advantageous which excludes a longitudinal displacement of the two plates with respect to one another and a loosening of the connection between the plates. This is achieved when use is made of the end plates known for protective shields, which are arranged at both ends perpendicular to the shield plates.

In the known designs, these plates are attached to the shield plates by means of screws or rivets, which attachment has a number of disadvantages. The heads of the screws or rivets jump off as a result of the constant vibration in a mass fire, whereby the connection is released.

In addition, these protruding parts prevent the protective shields from sliding close together, so that a gap remains between two adjacent protective shields through which projectiles can pass, and finally the assembly of the protective shield is much too much when using screws and rivets
 EMI1.1
the part of the hook, bracket or the like protruding beyond the engagement slot. A hole into which a helical or similarly wound ring having more than one turn is inserted.

The drawing shows the shield in FIG. 1 in a diagram, in FIG. 2 in a front view and in FIG. 3 in a section along line 4-B of FIG. 2.
