Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of sheet metal rod caps.

In order to protect power masts and other poles fixed in the ground from the weather, the upper end is usually provided with a protective cap.

Cast iron rod caps are now known, and also those made of sheet zinc. But they have various disadvantages. In the case of the slide valve made of zinc sheet, the previously common fastening by means of a nail driven in from above is too unsolid and too inconvenient for the fitter.

Another embodiment that has become known, in which a wood screw is soldered on instead of the nail, has the disadvantage that the screw is not galvanized and breaks off easily when screwed in at the soldering point.

These disadvantages are eliminated by the present method of manufacturing leaded stem caps.

The process consists in welding the fastening screw to the sheet metal cap in any way, after which the whole thing is galvanized in a full bath.

Caps produced by this method are shown in the drawing, for example, namely: In FIG. 1 a rod cap with a welded-on fastening screw.

In Fig. 2 a rod; nappe with continuous welded fastening screw. The upper end is used to attach an insulator.

The advantages of the new method are as follows: The welding of the fastening screw prevents the latter from breaking off at the fastening point, and the galvanizing in full) ad achieves greater durability of the cap and the screw.

The shape and size of the caps produced by this process can be modified as desired. A nail can also be welded on instead of the screw.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for producing sheet metal Stangenkappcn, characterized in that the fastening screw is welded to the sheet metal body and the cap is then galvanized.
