Im Patente Nr. 55104 ist eine halbsteinstarke Ziegelwand, aus gewöhnlichen Mauerziegeln hergestellt, beschrieben, bei welcher die Ziegel immer paarweise verlegt und die Paare zueinander versetzt sind.
Versuche haben nun ergeben, dass die Festigkeit solcher Mauern noch dadurch erhöht werden kann, dass man entweder immer ein Paar mit ihrer Länge parallel zur Mauerlucht nachstehend verlegter Ziegel mit zwei gegeneinander um eine Ziegelbreite versetzten, mit ihren Stärken in der Mauerflucht hochkantig verlegten Ziegeln abwechseln lässt, oder dass man sowohl die Ziegel des mit ihrer Länge parallel zur Mauerflucht flachliegend verlegten Paares als auch die Ziegel der mit ihren Stärken in der Mauerflucht hochkantig verlegten Paare um je eine Ziegelstärke gegeneinander verschiebt.
Schliesslich zeigte sich noch eine Konstruktion dem Bekannten weitaus überlegen, die darin besteht, dass in lotrechter Richtung gemessen immer ein Paar mit ihrer Breite parallel zur Mauerflucht hochstehend verlegter Ziegel mit zwei gegeneinander um eine Ziegelbreite versetzten und mit ihrer Länge parallel zur Mauerflucht flachliegend verlegter Ziegel abwechselt.
