Verfahren zur Darstellung von Schwefel und Sulfaten aus Schwefelsauerstoffverbindungen.
Ein technisch in einfacher Weise ausführbares Verfahren zur Gewinnung wertvoller Produkte ans Abfall-Laugen, die Thiosulfate, Sulfite oder Bisulfite in beliebigen Mischnngs- und Mengenverhältâ1issen pnthalten, ist für die Technik von grosser Bedeutung.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man die Gewinnung von Schwefel und Sulfaten aus Laugen, die Sulfite, Bisulfite oder auch diese Verbindungen zugleich mit Thiosulfates enthalten, in einfacher Weise dadurch bewirken kann, dass man diesen Langen Polythionato zusetzt. Es gelingt dann schon durch Erhitzen in offenen Gefässen, eine glatte Umsetzung in Schwefel und Sulfate herbeizuführen. Wendet man Laugen an, die von vorneherein schon Polythionate enthalten, so erübrigt sich selbstverständlich ein weiterer Zusatz. Die Men' der zuzusetzenden Polythionate kann in den weitesten Grenzen schwanken ; doch empfiehlt es sich nicht, unter 3 bis 4% des Gesamtgewichtes des Salzgemenges herunterzugehen.
Beispiel l.
Eine Lauge, die 100 Teile Natriumtetrathionat, 77 Teile Natriumbisulfit und 140 Teile Natriumsulfit enthält, wird zum Kochen erhitzt. Die Flüssigkeit bleibt zunächst eine Zeitlang klar, bis plötzlich eine starke Schwefelausscheidung einsetzt, worauf die Umsetzung in kurzer Zeit vollendet ist. Die Lange enthält dann nur noch Sulfat.
Beispiel 2.
Eine Lauge, enthaltend etwa 100 Teile Kaliumtetrathionat oder 90 Teile Kaliumtrithionat oder auch ein entsprechendes Gemisch dieser Verbindungen, 210 Teile Natriumthiosulfat, 416 Teile Natriumbisulfit sowie 210 Teile Kaliumsulfit, wird auf etwa 1000 erhitzt. Die Schwefelabscheidung beginnt in der völlig klaren Flüssigkeit nach etwa einer halben Stunde und ist in kurzer Zeit vollendet. Auch hier enthält die Lauge dann nur Sulfat.

A process that can be carried out technically in a simple manner for the recovery of valuable products from waste liquors which contain thiosulphates, sulphites or bisulphites in any mixing and quantitative proportions is of great importance for technology.
It has now been found that the recovery of sulfur and sulfates from alkalis which contain sulfites, bisulfites or these compounds at the same time as thiosulfates can be brought about in a simple manner by adding polythionato to these longs. It is then already possible to bring about a smooth conversion into sulfur and sulfates by heating in open vessels. If you use alkalis that already contain polythionates from the outset, no further addition is of course required. The menu of polythionates to be added can vary within the broadest limits; but it is not recommended to go below 3 to 4% of the total weight of the salt mixture.
Example l.
A liquor containing 100 parts of sodium tetrathionate, 77 parts of sodium bisulfite and 140 parts of sodium sulfite is heated to the boil. The liquid initially remains clear for a while, until suddenly a strong sulfur excretion sets in, whereupon the conversion is completed in a short time. The Lange then only contains sulfate.
Example 2.
An alkali containing about 100 parts of potassium tetrathionate or 90 parts of potassium trithionate or a corresponding mixture of these compounds, 210 parts of sodium thiosulphate, 416 parts of sodium bisulphite and 210 parts of potassium sulphite is heated to about 1000. The sulfur deposition begins in the completely clear liquid after about half an hour and is completed in a short time. Here, too, the lye only contains sulfate.
