  Reinigungsverfahren für Leim und   Eeiatinetosungen.   



   In vielen Industrien, u. a. beim Gerben von Häuten oder bei der Bearbeitung von Leder, kann es vorkommen, dass man Lösungen, z. B. solche von Leim oder Gelatine benötigt, welche vollständig frei von Kalk sind, oder eine derartig geringe Menge davon enthalten, dass dieselbe praktisch ganz belanglos ist. Das den Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung bildende Verfahren strebt die Erreichung dieses Zweckes an und ergibt gute Resultate. 



   Man führt die zu entkalkende Lösung in einen geeigneten Behälter ein und fügt eine genügende Menge Schwefelsäure eventuell im   Überschusse   hinzu, um die unlöslichen Kalkseifen zu zersetzen und den Kalk als Sulfat niederzuschlagen. Die genannte Lösung wird hierauf, wenn nötig,   umgerührt   und erwärmt, worauf man Bariumkarbonat ebenfalls in geringem Überschusse zusetzt und verrührt. 



   Schliesslich lässt man ruhen und hält die Masse, wenn nötig, stets auf einer Temperatur, die höher als jene der umgebenden Luft ist. Hiebei wird die im   Überschuss   befindliche Schwefelsäure in Form von Bariumsulfat niedergeschlagen und setzt sich mit dem vorher gebildeten Calciumsulfat und der gleichfalls niedergeschlagenen kleinen Menge von Bariumkarbonat am Boden des Behälters ab. 



   Die sich oberhalb des Niederschlages ansammelnde Lösung wird durch Decantation oder Filtration getrennt und enthält nunmehr nur Spuren von Kalk, welche für die gegedachten Zwecke unschädlich sind. Das Filtrat kann concentriert oder auch zur Gänze eingedampft und zum Zwecke der Erhöhung der Haltbarkeit mit geeigneten Substanzen versetzt werden. Die auf diese Weise gewonnenen Lösungen können neutral oder leicht alkalisch sein und finden in verschiedenen Industriezweigen Anwendung.

   In many industries, u. a. When tanning hides or working on leather, it can happen that solutions, e.g. B. those of glue or gelatin are required which are completely free of lime, or contain such a small amount of them that the same is practically completely irrelevant. The process which is the subject of the present invention aims to achieve this end and gives good results.



   The solution to be decalcified is introduced into a suitable container and a sufficient amount of sulfuric acid, possibly in excess, is added to decompose the insoluble lime soaps and precipitate the lime as sulfate. The solution mentioned is then, if necessary, stirred and heated, whereupon a slight excess of barium carbonate is added and stirred.



   Finally, let it rest and, if necessary, keep the mass at a temperature that is higher than that of the surrounding air. The excess sulfuric acid is precipitated in the form of barium sulfate and settles on the bottom of the container with the previously formed calcium sulfate and the likewise precipitated small amount of barium carbonate.



   The solution that collects above the precipitate is separated by decantation or filtration and now contains only traces of lime, which are harmless for the intended purposes. The filtrate can be concentrated or evaporated in its entirety and suitable substances can be added to increase the shelf life. The solutions obtained in this way can be neutral or slightly alkaline and are used in various branches of industry.

Claims

PATENT CLAIM: Process for decalcifying glue, gelatin or similar solutions including non-gelatinizable glue solutions, characterized in that the solution to be decalcified is first treated with sulfuric acid, bypassing and possibly heating, whereupon barium carbonate is added and the mass is left to rest and finally filtered and decanted. ** WARNING ** End of CLMS field may overlap beginning of DESC **.
