Die Erfindung bezweckt durch zwei Sicherungsarten ein unbefugtes Öffnen des Brief- umschlages dadurch zu erschweren, dass jede erfolgte oder nur versuchte Öffnung des Umschlages von aussen sichtbar wird.
Die Zeichnung veranschaulicht in Fig. I die eine Sicherungsart des Briefumschlages, während in den Fig. 11 und Ill ein gemäss der zweiten Sicherungsart an seinen Rändern mit Fransen versehener Briefumschlag abgebildet ist.
Die eine Art der Sicherung des Umschlages besteht darin, dass die Schliessklappe f des Briefumschlages in an sich bekannter Weise durch einen Schlitz i der gegenüberliegenden Klappe hindurchgesteckt und an der Innenseite dieser Klappe angeklebt Die Neuerung besteht nun darin, dass der Fortsatz der Schliessklappe, welcher die Form einer Vignette oder dgl. haben kann. durch Einschnitte, Perforationen oder dgl. derart geschwächt wird, dass jedes versuchte Öffnen irgend einer der Scbliessklappen einer Beschädigung derselben nach sich ziehen muss. Da dabei der den Fortsatz bedeckende Teil der gegenüberliegenden K) appo überdies noch durchsichtig ist, ist jede Verletzung des Fortsatzes von aussen erkennbar.
Der Fortsatz ist vorteilhafterweise zu beiden Seiten gummiert, so dass im geschlossenen Zustande des Briefumschlages die Innenseite des Fortsatzes an den Seitenklappen a. b haftet, während dessen Vorderseite mit dem durchsichtigen Teile der Klappe verbunden ist.
Die zweite Art der Sicherung soll nun ein Aufschneiden der Umschlagkanten erschweren ; es wird dies dadurch erreicht, dass an den Rändern des Umschlages quer zu den Umrisslinien parallele Einschnitte h erzeugt und innerhalb des Umschlages Farb-
