I. Mittlere Töne Dunkle Töne
Nitro-p-phenylendiamin . . . . . . . . 250 9 450 9 Ameisensäure.......... 300"550 n
EMI1.3
Rongalit C . . . . . . . . 2500 g
Wasser 1000 # Gummilösung 1 : 1 5000 "
Kaliumsulfit 45"Be.... 500
EMI1.4
Zinkpasta 1 : 1 500 #

Process for the production of real brown in dyeing and printing.
EMI1.1
of p-phenylenediamine, its homologues and isomers produce a reddish brown on the vegetable fiber if the p-phenylenediamine is oxidized as a free base or as a strongly blunted salt by chlorates and vanadium compounds.
It has now been found that a brown approaching the shade of the much-valued manganese banister brown and the fashion shades produced with it is obtained if those substituted p-phenylenediamines and their homologues which have an electronegative group in the core, in particular nitro-p-phenylenediamine, are obtained and nitrotolylenediamine, oxidized on the fiber.
Example: The white fabric is processed on the three-roller Fouiard machine
EMI1.2
Tones can be composed as follows:
I. Medium tones. Dark tones
Nitro-p-phenylenediamine. . . . . . . . 250 9 450 9 formic acid .......... 300 "550 n
EMI1.3
1 0 kg 1 0 kg The solutions I and 11 are mixed in the cold state and then the solution 111 is added
The following etch is now printed on before steaming to create white effects:
Rongalit C. . . . . . . . 2500 g
Water 1000 # rubber solution 1: 1 5000 "
Potassium sulfite 45 "Be .... 500
EMI1.4
Zinc paste 1: 1 500 #
10 kg The goods are then steamed in the Mather-Platt for 5 minutes at 1050 ° C., soaked in hot water, rinsed and dried.

If one wants to achieve a colored effect in addition to white, this can be done in the usual way by adding besic coloring substances or sulfur coloring substances to the white etching; the dyes must of course be able to withstand the effects of the rongalite.
According to the present invention, beautiful brown tones are also achieved by direct printing. In this case, the fabric is printed with the following printing ink, for example: Ptir medium tones For deep tones Nitro-p-phenylenediamine ....... 250 9 450 9 Formic acid .......... 300 650 n
Water ............ 500 "300"
Tragacanth slime 100/0 ',.' "6500 # 6170 # Sodium chlorate ......... 300 n 340" water. . . . . . . . . . 600 # 600 # ammonium chloride. . . . . . . . 250 # 480 #
Ammonium vanadium solution 1 #. . . . . .
Set 250 # 450 # with water to 10 kg 10 kg
After drying, the goods are steamed and washed at 1050 ° C. for 5 minutes.
If you take instead of 250 9 nitro-p-phenylenediamine only z. B. 100 9 to 10 kg of printing ink or pad bath, you still get very nice tobacco tones. The brown tones obtained withstand even violent chlorination. Your light and soap fastness is excellent.
Instead of formic acid, other organic acids can also be used in the above examples in order to increase the solubility of the nitrophenylenediamine. For light tones, the free nitrophenylenediamine base can also be used without the addition of acids.
The same amount of nitrotolylenediamine can be used as indicated in the above example for nitrophenylenediamine, otherwise the composition of the baths or printing ink is the same.
