Process for the production of pure thorn nitrate for gas incandescent light.

One of the known processes for the production of pure thorn nitrate consists in converting the crude thyroid compounds, which contain only minor impurities, into sulphates by treatment with sulfuric acid and these are separated from one another by means of fractional crystallization.

The present invention consists in using organic sulfuric acid compounds, in particular alkyl or ethylsulfuric acid, instead of sulfuric acid, it being noted that the use of ethylsulfuric acid for separating the ytherite and cerium elements is known.

The use of organic sulfuric acid compounds such as alkyl or ethylsulfuric acid for the production of thornitrate has the advantage over the use of ordinary!) Sulfuric acid that the following separation of the thor-

The thoralkyl (ethyl) sulfate obtained in this way is then converted into thornitrate in the usual way (conversion into hydrate and dissolving the hydrate in nitric acid).

These effects can also be achieved by adding small amounts of alkyl (or ethyl) sulfuric acid or its salts directly to pure thorn nitrate. The direct addition still has the advantage. that the additional amount can be changed as required.

is converted into thr nitrate in the usual way.

**WARNUNG** Ende CLMS Feld Kannt Anfang DESC uberlappen**. Process according to claim 1, characterized in that thorn nitrate is mixed with alkyl sulfuric acid or its salts, whereby a nitrate is obtained which remains easily soluble in the case of high residue and which gives an extremely voluminous oxide on glowing. ** WARNING ** End of CLMS field may overlap beginning of DESC **.
