Description
Process for the production of sulfide phosphors. The stilfid phosphors, d. H. find luminescent preparations of the sulphides of the alkaline earths and of zinc manifold technical application and are therefore of great practical importance. Particularly known is the Balmain luminescent color and the Sidot screen, the latter mainly in a mixture with radioactive substances is valued as a luminous paint. But also the other sulphides, those of barium and strontium, are used for various purposes used, as each sulfide has a characteristic luminous color through suitable preparation is to be obtained. Mainly for the production of phosphorescent preparations is the presence of small amounts of certain heavy metal compounds and the Addition of compounds that act as fluxes. But also the physical one Condition of the preparations and the special measures taken during heating and cooling the products are essential. But decisive for the extraction highly luminous, technically usable preparations is the degree of neglect of the obtained ones Products, as even minor impurities destroy the lighting effects. Both The resulting preparations are often the presentation methods used up to now difficult to restore because the cumbersome display process is precisely the It is difficult to avoid such harmful impurities.
It has now been found that a special type of reduction of the corresponding Sulphates or oxides are valuable for the production of phosphorescent preparations pure sulfides with particularly simple and clean production conditions. The procedure consists in that: the sulphates or oxides of the reducing action an inert gas stream loaded with carbon disulfide (nitrogen or Noble gas) at suitable high temperatures. The necessary additions of Heavy metal compounds and substances acting as fluxes can be used Add to the sulfates or oxides from the outset. But you can also manufacture them first Add sulfides with it and subject them to a renewed annealing process.
Beispielsweise kann man in folgender Weise arbeiten i. The present invention is accordingly, sulfates, sulfites, Oxides, especially of alkaline earths, zinc and magnesium, with the addition of heavy metal compounds at a suitable high temperature, for example 800 °, one with carbon disulfide to expose charged nitrogen streams or mixtures of noble gases with carbon disulfide. The addition of fluxes is also possible. For example, you can work in the following way i. An intimate mixture of 1.6 kg of magnesium sulfate is produced and the amount of bismuth nitrate corresponding to 1.8 g of bismuth and it glows for so long in a stream of nitrogen and carbon disulfide until the reaction product is free of sulfate. The mass obtained has a nice blue glow.
2. Man vermischt i leg :4Tagnesiumsulfat rrnt der i g Mangan entsprechenden _Nlenge Mangansulfat und glüht im SticlcstofF-Schwefelstrom. Die erhaltene Masse leuchtet rot.2. Mix one leg: 4 magnesium sulfate rrnt the A quantity of manganese sulphate corresponds to manganese and glows in the nitrogen-sulfur stream. The mass obtained glows red.
Barium sulfate or barium oxide is heated with the addition of heavy metal compounds and melt additives in the nitrogen-carbon disulfide stream. Instead of barium oxide Barium sulfite or barium thiosulfate can also be used.
The new process is a hitherto unattained purity and secure uniformity of all conditions guaranteed, also an abbreviation of the presentation process, which is therefore more economical. The preparations obtained are more uniform than those achieved by the previously proposed methods. since any oxidation is impossible.
In this way the known phosphorescent preparations became made of zinc and alkaline earths and highly phosphorescent magnesium sulfide phosphors won, which can be produced for the first time in the present way and have been made. Of the alkalis, too, one should be aware of what is shown Ways to represent the previously unknown phosphorescent sulfides.
Working with the inert nitrogen and its equivalents, the Noble gases, for the purpose of producing completely pure sulfide phosphors with adjustable lighting effect, first teaches the present invention.
