In a further very practical exemplary embodiment, a device is made which conveys the used interleaving paper out of the machine. This device consists of two juxtaposed, suitably elastic rollers, one of which, preferably the larger one, is driven at such a speed that the two rollers convey the same amount of interlayer tape out of the machine that has just been used up during gilding.
Another advantage of the new device is an embodiment of post-gold plating respectively. Repairing damaged areas to which no leaf metal has stuck with the help of the waste bin.
In a very practical embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, this is done in that on the bottom of the waste bin, i. H. In the part in which the strips to be gilded pass, brushes are arranged which rotate around an axis and in this way brush the falling leaf metal onto the damaged areas. This device also has the essential advantage that the leaf metal cannot sit in lumps on the strips to be gold-plated, but is brushed over them in fine distribution. By working together several brushes, this fine distribution can be increased in a special embodiment.
The machine can now work for slat guides, table guides or the like, as well as with conveyor rollers.

and this removes the excess gold leaf. Then the gold-plated strip comes under a spring-mounted felt plate 33, through which the metal rod is completely rubbed off, which is still on the gold-plated strip, and which smooths the strip.
The professional rollers are all resiliently mounted (Fig. 5). The arrangement here is expediently such that each roller is influenced by a spring 40, which in turn can be pressed more or less firmly against the roller housing by an adjusting screw 29. In the exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention shown in the drawing, the strips to be gilded are prepared as before and brought into the condition suitable for receiving the leaf metal by means of binding agents such as application oil or the like. They are then placed on a table top provided with guide rails and guided with the apparatus which is attached to two slides or brushes (see FIGS. 4 and 6).
However, the device can also be used with power operation. In the case of power operation, the working method remains the same, with the only difference that the device is placed on a fixed frame and the running rail is then moved by power operation. The use of power operation is particularly useful where several strips are to be placed next to each other and gold-plated at the same time. The way in which this happens can be seen from FIG. According to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 7, six strips are gold-plated side by side at once. In this case, a wide strip of gold leaf comes from roll b, which is perforated in strips by the perforating wheels 41-45 (see also the secondary figure).
The perforation lines are then completely cut open by the knife 46-fi, and thereby the wide sheet metal band into narrow ones
Strips broken up, which then by the elastic rollers 11-16 on the to be gilded
Last 17-22 can be adjusted. To facilitate the cuts are between the strips
Rails 23-27 arranged, which carry a sharp groove on their back and on this
Way to facilitate the work of the perforating wheels and cutting wheels.
In the exemplary embodiment for ssraftbetriebe shown in FIGS. 8-11, the roller b, on which the sheet metal is wound between layers of paper, is mounted in a clamp 5 which can be adjusted in a bracket 4 in the vertical direction. The block 4 in turn rests on a slide 6, which enables horizontal displacement in the longitudinal direction of the machine. With the help of this device, it is possible to adjust the tape a coming from the roll so that it adapts to the profile of the objects to be gilded without tension, without affecting the thickness of the material. the changing diameter of the roll would have an influence on this.
The tape a coming from the roll b is first passed over a guide roller c and then comes into contact with the objects to be gilded under the format roller d, but without being pressed against them. In the exemplary embodiment, these objects to be gilded are pushed forward by transport rollers w, a, k, o and n.
From the format roller d, the sheet metal strip a with the objects to be gilded then advances and comes one after the other under the format rollers f, g, hund i, which progressively adapt more and more to the profile of the strips to be gilded and in this way without damaging pressure to exert on the leaf metal, bring it into contact with the contact oil or the like located on the surface of the objects to be gilded and thereby cause the leaf metal to adhere to the objects to be gilded. In the exemplary embodiment, the device is arranged between the two transport rollers mouth 1, with the aid of which the wide strip coming from the roll b is broken down into individual narrow strips corresponding to the number and shape of the strips to be gilded.
This device consists of a perforating roller z and a cutting roller y which are mounted in a common housing 7, which by springs 2. respectively. 3 is pressed into the working position.

so that waste metal adheres to places where the contact oil is still bare.
In the exemplary embodiment, one of these brushes is supported by the arrangement of a transport roller o the gold-plated strip material and held in position opposite one of these brushes. Now that the strips have passed under this waste bin w and the damaged areas in the gold plating have been repaired, the same pass under the smoothing device 9, which is made from a felt body a; exists, against which the gold-plated strips are pressed with the help of the transport roller n. It is only here that the strips are pressed. of the gold leaf instead of this and thereby a considerably better gilding is achieved than could previously be achieved with other devices.
All of the machine's Fonnat rollers are spring-loaded and adjustable so that they can bring the leaf metal onto the bars without pressure. The type of this resilient mounting is evident, for example, from the exemplary embodiments shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.
It deserves to be emphasized that, according to the present invention, the unwinder can be completely separated from the rest of the machine and, as a result, can be easily adjusted.
If one wants to build the machine according to the present invention with running rails, d. H. So do not move the strips to be gilded by transport rollers, but move them past on a movable table, for example under the machine, so the perforating and cutting wheels are suitably arranged in two of the format rollers, the rollers / * and y.
It is also advisable to place a container at the point where the two elastic rollers t and p convey the used paper tape out of the machine, in order to prevent the paper from falling onto other parts of the machine when it accumulates .
After the strips have gone through the machine according to the present invention, they are ready for painting and, as a result of the action of the smoothing device 9, have the required bare surface.
