Chemiker-Zeitung 1908, No. 51, S. 604). Diese Annahme ist
EMI1.1

Process for purifying chlorates.
The subject of the invention is a method for removing the chlorate contamination detected by R. Gartenmeister (Chemiker-Zeitung 1907, No. 14). It has been found that all commercially available chlorates, which are produced according to an electrochemical process, in contrast to chlorates produced according to the old process, are contaminated with a substance which oxidizes hydriodic acid in acidic solution. Until now it was assumed that this impurity consists of hypochlorite or chlorite (see Chemiker-Zeitung 1908, No. 51, p. 604). This assumption is
EMI1.1
solved. which H parts of salic acid of spec Weight 1, 19 and 3 parts of spirit are added, and the mixture is heated to 95 to 100 for about 1 hour.
From the purified chlorate. lye. which does not liberate iodine from potassium iodide even if a large amount of sulfuric acid is added, the pure chlorate is obtained in a known manner.
In the case of crude chlorates, which contain a large amount of the contaminating substance. the amount of hydrochloric acid required to destroy it is determined beforehand by experiment.
