<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a two-part closure for outlet openings of large containers, in which a first closure part remains on the container and from a tubular housing protruding into the interior of the container with a closure body for the outlet opening of the container, at least one inlet opening and a tubular outlet there is a valve with a spring-loaded valve body and Im
Housing housed valve spring closes at the inner end and its tubular outlet forms an outwardly open insertion guide for a likewise tubular actuating plunger, the tell of the second,
Removable closure part and at least one of its open valve with the
Container interior communicating inlet opening and has an outlet at its end protruding from the outlet.
The basic advantage of such a design of the closure is that the first closure part can remain on the container for transport, properly closes the outlet opening and does not or only slightly protrude beyond the outside of the container with its outer end in the fastening position, so that there is hardly any risk of damage consists.
A correspondingly designed closure is known from GB-2 181 720 A. Here, a drain pipe is provided as the second closure part, which carries a seal at a distance from its end and can be inserted into the insertion guide. The valve has a piston-shaped valve body, on the inner end of which a seal which is in contact with a shoulder of the inner end of the first closure part is provided in the closed position. wherein this part designed as a hollow piston is held in this closed position by a compression spring supported on it and on the first closure part. The inlet openings are provided in the valve body at a distance from the seal.
A filter attachment is attached to the base body of the tubular housing of the first closure part, which is also tubular, is closed at its free end and has filter openings in its jacket. A disadvantage of the known design is the complex structure of the first closure part and also a complicated assembly of the various elements of this closure part. The closure part is permanently attached to the large container with its outer end. This has the disadvantage that there is practically no possibility of cleaning the valve and the filter if the entire container is not opened.
The mentioned seal on the inner end of the piston-shaped valve body represents the only stop between the valve body and the outlet, so that there is a risk that the seal will either fall off or be pulled into the tube opening of the first closure part with frequent actuation, so that the seal of the closure then does not is more guaranteed or the entire container has to be opened again for repair work. The design of the valve body as a hollow piston and the attachment of the filter part to the closure body result in a considerable overall length.
Other closures for the outlet openings of large containers, in particular barrels, which can be designed as valves or taps, are preferably only attached to the container for emptying the container, but are either removed for transport and replaced by a stopper or screw cap closure or, in special cases, also protected by an attached cap.
When using transport closures, the exchange of the transport closure against the tap closure can in most cases only take place in a certain position, namely when the closure is located at the highest point of the barrel, which can be difficult to maintain in large containers, or the The transport closure consisting of a spigot is replaced by striking it by driving a connecting spigot of a tap into the spigot hole, which requires special skill and a subsequent replacement of the spigot closure when the barrel is still partially filled becomes problematic again due to the transport closure. Bel the known closure of the type mentioned, the liquid can only be drained by pulling out the second tubular closure part.
This closure is therefore hardly suitable for serving directly from the barrel.
In order to avoid transport damage in the case of dispensing fasteners permanently attached to a barrel, it is known from US-1 458 719 A to permanently attach a tubular closure part to the container and to attach a hollow piston of an adjustable closure body in it so that it is in a transport position with the exception of the External handle can be substantially completely sunk and pulled out for the dispenser so far that an outlet opening provided on it protrudes beyond the edge of a barrel base.
In this position, the inlet openings of the tubular closure piston can be brought into alignment by turning, as in the case of a tap, with inlet openings of the outer closure part, or they can be closed by twisting or shifting. In the main main positions, the hollow piston with threaded sections can be screwed into a counter thread of the outer part and thus secured.
From EP-0 156 500 A1 it is known to fasten a line distributor to a large container with the aid of a union nut, the fastening edge of which engages in an annular groove to secure it against falling off. This ring groove is formed between two parts to be fastened one after the other.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention is to provide a closure of the type mentioned, which has a simple structure, can be easily cleaned and in which different types of
Removal of the barrel contents are possible, and samples of the barrel contents can be tapped without problems.
The task is solved in that the removable, second closure part optionally as
Drain pipe or as an inlet pipe of a tap or valve which can be fastened to the outside of the closure, its actuating plunger, as is known per se, has a collar which limits its insertion depth into the insertion guide, a seal which can be pressed against the end of the insertion guide is provided and which tubular outlet of the first closure part forms a separate part, which can be screwed into the housing with its end having the valve seat with an external thread and is provided with a molded polygonal nut between this thread and an external thread of the outlet end in the manner of a double nipple.
The design according to the invention results in a simple construction of the first closure part remaining on the container, which can also be quickly assembled or disassembled if necessary. The valve can be made easily accessible for readjustments and cleaning purposes when the container is empty, but with the first closure part remaining on the container. The particular advantage of the closure according to the invention, however, is that either a drain pipe for connecting a line or for taking samples of the contents of the container or a tap or valve can be attached, for example to enable direct dispensing from the barrel.
The seal on the collar, which can be pressed against the end of the insertion guide, takes effect at full insertion depth and offers additional protection against liquid dripping at the connection point. The federal government can perform other functions and z. B. serve as a handle for the insertion of the actuating plunger, but also as part of a fastening element if the actuating plunger forms the inlet pipe of a tap or valve. The special design of the tubular outlet of the first closure part facilitates the assembly of the housing with the valve, whereby fastening the two parts and inserting a seal can result in an attachment in a container opening.
According to another embodiment, this two-part housing is screwed into the opening of a cap cover or a cap nut, which closes a corresponding container opening.
According to a further development, an optionally attachable, cap-like sealing plug is provided for the outlet end of the first closure part, which, for. B. octagonal polygon nut with an adapted opening profile, so that it forms a turning handle for the tubular outlet, with the help of which the housing can be screwed tight. During transport, the sealing plug protects the protruding pipe socket with the thread from damage.
An advantageous embodiment provides that the cap-like sealing plug has a ring comb engaging like a plug in the pipe opening and has a ventilation opening in the area of its outer wall enclosed by the ring comb, in order to prevent overpressure in the enclosed air when the sealing plug is inserted tightly into the pipe opening arises, through which the valve could be lifted at least briefly.
According to a further development of the invention, a union nut can be screwed onto the external thread of the tubular outlet and holds the actuating plunger serving as the inlet pipe of a tap or valve in the position keeping the valve open while sealing the tubular outlet against the outlet pipe. This design also fixes the tap in the working position. Most elements of the closure are preferably made of acid and corrosion-resistant plastic.
In order to find sufficiency with as few components as possible and to enable a compact design, in particular in the fastening area of the actuating plunger at the outer end of the tubular outlet with only a small protrusion of this part, a further development provides that the union nut is formed in two parts and from one onto the external thread of the tubular outlet with a ring nut that can be screwed on and a handle that surrounds it with actuating elements in the form of a slotted ring made of elastically deformable material with outer grip profiles, which handle can be snapped into an annular groove provided next to the sealing contact surface in the collar with an elastic deformation .
The ring can be made of more easily deformable or more elastic material than the ring nut. It is also possible to connect the handle and ring nut by gluing.
According to a further embodiment, the collar of the actuating plunger. as known per se. also tubular and this collar is provided with an internal thread for the optional screwing in of the connection end of a tap or valve that can be connected to the inlet pipe or a sealing plug
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Tap or valve serving actuating plunger a relatively short overall height is sought. so that only the collar protrudes outwards beyond the wall of the container provided with the collar and can be received in a holder. The latter design also sinks the connection end of a tap or valve into the collar.
In particular, if the tap or valve is only removed for a short time for transport purposes and it is possible to pluck the container in such a way that the outlet area occupies the highest position or a position above the existing liquid level, the actuating plunger can be left on the container, only Remove the tap and valve and close the opening with the stopper.
The actuating tappet can taper slightly conically towards its inlet end both when it is designed as a drain pipe and when it is designed as an inlet pipe to improve the fit.
Further details and advantages of the subject matter of the invention can be found in the following description of the drawings.
The subject matter of the invention is illustrated in the drawing, for example. Show it

Tellcut shown union nut and
3 shows a further design option for the end of a connecting pipe with a sealing plug.
1 has a tubular basic housing 1, which can be provided at the inner end 2 and also in its jacket 3 with inlet openings 4 and in the outer end 5 of which a tubular outlet 6 is screwed in its basic form, with the aid of this outlet 6 also a fastening element for attaching the closure to a large container, in the exemplary embodiment a cap nut 7 which can be screwed onto an outwardly projecting threaded pipe socket of the container is clamped, and sealing packs 8, 9 are set under tension.
The tubular outlet 6 forms at its inner end 10 a conical valve seat for a truncated cone-shaped valve body 11, which is held in its position closing the outlet 6 by a compression spring 12 mounted in the housing 1. Only an outer end 13 of the outlet 6 protrudes beyond the cap nut 7, which outer end is provided with an external thread 14 and an annular groove 16 surrounding the inner tube 15. Between the two threaded parts, the tubular outlet 6 is equipped, like a double nipple, with an integrally formed, octagonal polygonal nut 36, with the aid of which screwing in and out of the housing 1 is facilitated.
For transport or when not in use, a cap-shaped sealing plug 17 (see FIG. 3) can be fitted, which engages with an annular comb 18 in the tube opening 15 or the annular groove 16. As mentioned, this sealing plug 17 forms a cap with an inner profile 37 which is adapted internally to the outer profile shape of the octagonal nut 36. An opening 38 is provided in the outer ring 18 of the cap. Furthermore, the cap has a grip profile 39 in the edge area, so that this cap 17 can be used as a turning handle for part 6.
After removing the sealing plug 17, either a drain pipe 19 (FIG.
1) or an inlet pipe 20 (FIG. 2) which serves as an actuating tappet for the valve 11, 12. The drain pipe 19 is intended for short-term use and is used to take samples of the container contents. A collar 21 shaped into a handle serves as a stop limiting the insertion depth of the tube 19, a seal 22 being placed on the tube 19, which lies tightly against the end of the part 6 when the tube 19 is pushed in up to the collar 21. The tube 19 is provided with jacket openings 23 in the inner end region and receives an insert plug 25 equipped at the end with a closure handle 24. which is provided with holes 26 corresponding to holes 23.
The degree of coverage of the holes 23. 26 can be changed by twisting and / or longitudinally displacing the insert stopper 25, as a result of which the inlet cross section into the pipe and thus the outflow speed of the liquid are changed by an angled outlet nozzle 27 connected to the pipe 19 on the other side of the handle 21 can be. The tube 19 is tapered slightly towards its left end, so that it can be easily inserted into the tube part 15 and by the engagement of this thickening area with the wall of the tube part 15 when opening the valve 10 causes a preliminary seal before the main seal 22 comes into engagement.
As long as the tube 19 is fully inserted, the valve 11, 12 remains in its open position and closes again as soon as the tube 19 is pulled out
As already mentioned, an inlet pipe 20 can also be used instead of the drain pipe 19 according to FIG. 1. This inlet pipe 20 has the outer shape of the pipe 19, but instead of the handle 21 has an enlarged pipe section 28, the left end of which is a stop collar for the end of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Forms part 15 and again serves to support a seal 22. In addition to the collar 29, an annular groove 30 is provided.
A ring nut 31, which can be screwed onto the thread 14, is enclosed by an actuating handle 33 provided with grip profiles 32, which handle has a slot 34 on one side similar to a spring washer and snaps into the annular groove 30 with a ring extension 35, so that it is at most after gluing to the ring nut 31, this connects the pipe 20 in a rotatable but axially immovable manner. If the nut 31 is screwed onto the thread 14, the tube 20 keeps the valve 11, 12 in the open position. The tube section 28 can have the same or a similar outer shape as the free end of the part 6 and can be closed if necessary by a cap, similar to the cap 17.
The pipe section 28 is provided with an internal thread, into which a tubular connecting piece of a conventional tap or valve known per se, not shown, can be screwed tight. As long as the drain pipe 20 is fastened to the closure 1, 6, it holds the valve 11, 12 in the open position, so that the liquid is withdrawn from the container via the screwed-on tap or the corresponding tap valve.
Instead of a cap, a plug can also be screwed into the internal thread of the pipe section 28.
When using an inlet pipe 20 with a commercially available tap or valve close to the pipe section 28, a simplification of the overall design using existing parts is possible if the tap or valve is to be dismantled in special cases with the tank still partially filled or the tank is so small Is that it can be adjusted in one position. In which the outlet opening is at the highest point so that the plug mentioned can be attached.
With this simplification, instead of the valve body 11 loaded by the spring 12, a sealing cap having approximately the shape of the valve body is simply inserted into the inner opening 15 of the tubular body 6, omitting the spring, which in particular tightly closes the pipe opening 15 together with a provided sealing plug and with With the help of the inlet pipe 20, which then immediately connects to a valve, can be pushed off into the interior of the container.
