  Verfahren zur Vereinigung von   Metallstücken.   



   Nach dem im Stammpatent angegebenen Verfahren erfolgt die Erhitzung der beiden an ihren Enden zu vereinigenden, mit einer Stromquelle verbundenen Metallstücke derart, dass sie mit ihren Enden in eine geeignete Vorrichtung gespannt werden, die   Stossstelle   mit einem elektrolytischen Flussmittel umgeben und hierauf der Stromkreis geschlossen wird. 



   Die Verbesserung dieses Verfahrens besteht nun darin, dass nicht, wie früher, die ganze Menge des Flussmittels vor Schliessen des Stromkreises in die Vorrichtung eingebracht wird, sondern dass das Einbringen des hier den Stromschluss bewirkenden Flussmittels zwischen die Metallstückenden allmählich erfolgt. 



   Sobald das Flussmittel die leitende Verbindung zwischen den als Elektroden dienenden   Metallstuckenden   hergestellt hat, beginnt die Erwärmung letzterer. Da jedoch das Einbringen des Flussmittels allmählich erfolgt, wird die Stromstärke infolge des gleichfalls allmählich sinkenden Leitungswiderstandes nur nach und nach bis zu ihrem Höchstwerte wachsen. 



   Durch die langsam   erfolgende Erwärmung   wird das   Aufsprühen   und Aufkochen des Flussmittels und ein eventuelles Überlaufen desselben aus der Form vermieden. 



   Ausserdem wird dadurch, dass der Strom bis zur genügenden Erhitzung der Metallstückenden nur kurze Zeit mit voller Stärke zu wirken braucht, eine beträchtliche Stromersparnis erzielt.

   The improvement of this method is that not the whole amount of flux is introduced into the device before the circuit is closed, as was previously the case, but that the introduction of the flux causing the current connection takes place gradually between the ends of the metal pieces.



   As soon as the flux has established the conductive connection between the ends of the metal pieces serving as electrodes, the latter begins to heat up. However, since the introduction of the flux takes place gradually, the current strength will only gradually increase to its maximum value due to the likewise gradually decreasing line resistance.



   The slow heating process avoids the spraying and boiling of the flux and any overflow of the same from the mold.



   In addition, the fact that the current only needs to work at full strength for a short time until the ends of the metal pieces are sufficiently heated means that considerable energy savings are achieved.
